RIght now best bang for the buck is probably a 400ex. You can buy a nice 400ex in the 2 grand price range. I bought mine for $2,00 early this spring with a few aftermarket parts on it. I know okieRrider just bought his for a damn goodprice and it is 100% stock.

Nice thing about the 400ex is parts are cheap and with an extra $500-1000 later on they can compete with any of the new quads being built.

i say brand new ** best bet is a blaster. there the cheapest new, and with a couple hundred bucks in mods you can be spankin 300ex's n pretty much anything under a 400..but if ** going used i would definetaly recomend a 400ex...i would even recomend if you want a new quad to buy a brand new 400ex because there all around fun...but if you want a very competative 400. spring for a z400...thats the funnest quad ive ever ridden and ive been on yfz's to quadsport 80's

400EX for the money no doubt. Possibly a Banshee too, they are cheap as hell used, I think they suck though.

Brand new I have to agree with blaster............but it will depend on the type riding you do. I work at a dealership and have a good idea what they have into some of the used quads (ssssshhhhhh yzf450 for under $4000). Otherwise right here in WI there is a great 250r for around $4000.........or an older lt250r (some assembly required) for well under a grand. The market on 400exs and warrior's is also reasonable but you will just have to negotiate a bit. Same guy with the 250r also has a raptor to sell that will also be affordable, when compared to new quads and it is in immaculate condition.

I'd go with a 300ex or 400ex. Awesome woods machines. The mid 90's 300ex can be found under 2 grand now days. I have one, and I simply love them. I like it better than my buddies 400ex. Sure, it doesn't have alot of speed, but it has TIGHT handling plenty of power.

You can buy an 01-02 raptor from $2500-3500. I would go with that.

the 400ex is great for the money I also think a suzuki lt 250R is good and a little cheaper than a 400ex and faster. Another one is the blaster it really just bepends on your on want I think these three would be great in a sport quad catorgory

now that the 450's are out 400ex's can be picked up pretty cheap, and they are bullet proof to boot. around here nice used blasters can be picked up for $1500 and under, after market parts for them are cheap and everywhere

From what I understand the 250R and the 400EX have the same chassis and suspension? Am I wrong?
