    primary and secondary stator?

I went to sell a 110 project yesterday and of course the thing refused to start. we swapped the cdi, coil, plug, plug wire, the only thing I didn't swap was the stator. I don't know if it's just a bad ground, broken wire, but just to eliminate the stator as a problem, can I use the yellow wire for spark? I believe it's for the lights. right now Im not getting any spark at all, I just want to see if I can get the spark plug to fire. Or does anyone have the spec for the stator on a 82 110? thanks Jim

First off you can't use the yellow wire for spark. If you try it you can cause damage to other electrical componets.

I would first check the black with red striped wire coming from the stator. For the best spark you should have 210-240 ohms. It's basically the same as a 185-200 set up ( for checking purposes ). If it's bad, the exciter coil or stator will need replaced.

Okay I just checked it with a ohm meter. when I put the probe on the black wire and to the ground I get 127 ohms. is this no good? I checked the old stator plate and going from the black wire to the plate I get nothing. so I figure that one is bad. I didn't pull the one in the trike just unhooked the wires ( connector is gone) and checked. thanks for any info! Jim

If your getting a 127 ohm reading then I would replace the exciter coil. In fact here if I check one and it's under 200 I replace it.

But even with a 127 ohm reading you should be able to get a very weak spark. I would think it might even run if you tried to pullstart it behind another machine. But for easiest starting you want 210-240 ohms.
