I think that's Ed Webb. He's over in Paynesville, not too far from me.

Yeah we got new plugs (NGK of course) and are gonna put new gas in it Sunday. I have to clean the carbs up to (dad blew into the inlet for the gas and the float valve there is fine but I know there is varnish in there). Thanks.

Dipstick, the thing that tells you how full the case is, or even a hole to put oil in.

Dude, it's a two stroke. By the looks of your pictures, it doesn't have oil injection, so it's premix only. The only oil level you need to check is for the chaincase.

    Hope that helps.

ok so what your saying is that there is no crankcase oil right? I know you have to premix the gas.

Nope, no crankcase oil. The transmission that a sled uses is mostly external, so the only level that you have to worry about on a premix sled is the chaincase stuff. There should be a plug or something near the bottom to check it with.

It is a 1978 Polaris SS/340 ... not a colt but built on a colt chassis. It was mantufactured for the 78 season only and never again. It's sister sled is the 1978 Cobra. It was manufactured between june and november 1977 for the 78 lineup. It has a unique cowl and has optional guages which the 78 colt did not offer. I own 3 and they are great all around sleds and do super well off trail. The engine is a Polaris/Fuji EC34PM-03 or EC34PM-04 depending n the month it was manufactured. This engine is shared with the 340 motors found in many Polaris sleds from 76-81.

You realize that this was nearly 6 years ago, right?
This is my trike. There are many like it but this one is mine. My trike is my best friend, and it is my life. I must master it as I must master myself. My trike without me is useless. Without my trike, I am useless. I must ride my trike true. My trike and I know that what counts is not the amount of miles we ride, but the time we ride together. My trike is human in it's own ways, therefore I will learn it as my brother. I will learn it's weaknesses, it's strengths, it's parts, and it's soul.
