Look what I got for $700 - moved from open

Do you think I paid too much? He said it runs great and he just used it last weekend with his kids.

I'm no sled appraiser, but that guy absolutely sucks at taking pics. It took me a good 15 seconds to figure out what I was looking at. That's likely the reason you got it for a reasonable price. The ebay auctions with crisp, clear pics always seem to draw more attention, and bids.

I like the machine, wish I had one, but it would get used about 2 days a year.

Wow that guy does suck at pictures. He should've took the effort to haul the sled outside so you could see the whole thing in one shot.
You won't know for a while if it was a good deal or not. Around here older sleds like that aren't worth very much.

Yeah, those pics are horrible. I wouldn't have bid on it if I couldn't get better ones. From what I can see it looks OK, but it's hard to tell.

    Good deal

    Nice deal on the SRV!

I have a buddy who has 2 of those an 82 and a 91 and they are nice sleds. I myself have a Yamaha 440 SS, it is basically the same thing but the motor is 100cc smaller, and they dont have the TSS front suspension. It starts everytime on the 1st or 2nd pull, runs with liquid cooled sleds of bigger displacement, and is very reliable. Just had it out around the farm today, and it was hanging the skis the whole time

where can i get a good manual? this is my first sled. all i could find was the generic chiltons for yamaha 84-89 or something. Is it normal for it to take a couple minutes to warm up before it's ready to run? I just started it and it's been between 15-30 degrees out since i ran it yesterday. Smoked alot and took a few minutes before it was idling smooth.

yes, that is fairly normal, put fresh gas in and fresh oil, have a mechanic check it over, thats usually the first things I do.

My brother had a 1986 (i think) SRV 540, it was a screamer, boggy on the bottom end, but the top end, it screamed, i had a hopped up 570 exciter, and it would hang with it for a little while, then mine would pull away.

yeah, that is normal for those sleds. I usually leave mine running with the choke on for maybe a minute or so then take the choke off and that seems to work ok for me.

As far as the manual, I'm sorry I dont know. I would try a yamaha dealer or see if clymber makes one for it, or just watch ebay.

My friend is putting a DG pipe on his 91 srv right now supposed to add 11 hp when jetted right, along with the reeds and clutch springs, and I'm thinking of doing smiliar things to mine.

the DG pipe is only $100. I dont want to sink any money into it ....yet i'm interested in a clutch kit but i'm clueless on snowmobiles. i think reeds are only like $70 or so. Let me know if the difference was worth it on your friends sled and what jets he's running.

no.. if it has a old regestration sticker, you can file for lost title, then register, and all that.

clutches on those SRV's are not the simplest to do, I think you would be better off taking it to a mechanic (who isnt a hack and knows his stuff) and have him do clutch springs and possibly rollers.

Look into reeds definetly, they are notorious on those sleds for breaking at the base and, well, say bye bye to your cylinder.
