I WONDER why they're so rare! lol, that thing looks like crap! I bet it would be a ruff ride, probly goes about 15 tops. Its got a little 5hp mower engine with a centrifugal clutch, plus everythings rusted on that little boogger. They won't get much out of it, ohwell. At least its leaving their garage, I think .

Why is it a piece of crap? Youve got to keep in in perspectic. This is a 3 wheeled go-cart, not an all terran vehicle. Looks fine to me for what its made for. The 5hp Briggs motor is probably more reliable than any Jap motor even being made today. Kids probably had all kinds of fun running it in a parking lot or go-cart course. You guys really shouldnt be so quick to knock somebody elses toys. Compared to what they may be driving, some people might think youre driving a piece of crap.

I see what your saying Tim,
And I agree that its "not an all terrain vehicle"...But right here it says "Tri Sport TriSport TRIKE 3wheeler atv" At the end it says ATV. But its not really an ATV, as we both agree. It should be Go Kart, lol. The problem with it is, shortly, A poor design. That's all that's to it, The company could have done a little better, Especicaly where they mounted the foot pegs...Right on the steering stem...So when you turn, one foot comes in and the other out, I think that would get old after a while. I prefer my feet to be stationary while riding, and not constantly twisting and bending, lol. There are a few other flaws but hey, if it sold brand new for around 500 or so, then its not that bad, I bet it was a blast for the neighborhood kids. Now compared to all the karts and atvs of today, its not that great. Its just a personal prefference.

    just my .02 cents.

One more thing, If thats a solid rear axle in the back there...I bet in snow or on slippery surfaces those rear tires drive the front end strait, even when TRYING to turn, the front wheel may be turning but its still going foward. It even happends to my on my big red sometimes on the ice and mud but I can easily swing it around using some gass and a little swing . On that thing, I bet its a differn't storry, lol.

I had something similar to that 25+ yrs. ago. Mine was called a "MUD BUG". Had 5 horse tecumseh on it also. It was a blast for the times and my age. Don't forget how old it is. I'm sure your trikes had rust on them when you got them, mine did(does) but a little T.L.C.(wirewheels,sandpaper,paint) works wonders.

Just keep an open mind, fellas!

    Thanks, Al

I really cant stand it when some of you people bash everything for the sake of bashing it. It really shows that you are young, intolerant, and spoiled. I didn't even click the link yet, but I know what it is. These types of machines are from a better time in this country, when there were hundreds of mini bike companies, and even more snowmobile companies. When we were kids, we could ride mini bikes and go carts around the neighborhood all day long, and just get a kind wave from the police as they drove by smiling at us. Imagine that? The only real problem we had back then was Jimmy Carter! (he was the president in the late 1970's-had to put that in for all the publicly educated)

If I was closer I would buy it. I had a Penney's Scat Tracker and that thing was fun as can be. It was the same basic design. They do scoot around pretty good also. Our Scat tracker did around 25 mph, and on the ice it was fun also. When ask how much for it years ago I priced it High ( everything has a price ) because I didn't really want to sell it. How ever I didn't price it high enough. The couple that bought it was happy. I priced it at $350 and they handed me cash. I was happy to make a bunch on it but sad to see it go. 1 week later I tried to buy it back but they wouldn't sell it. They ended up trashing the poor thing. When they wanted to sell it ( 4 years later ) they wanted too much. It would have taken $500 to put it back to where it was when I sold it. And they wanted $250 with a blowed motor, almost no fenders, and a broken axle.

I hate when people do that to a unique machine.

Wow, i havent seen one of those in years. My buddy andy growing up (had alota 225dx's and a few 200x's and one of these) had a tri-cat, which is basically the same exact thing except without the springer forks. Anyway we had a 12 horse engine on it (and a few other engines for that matter) and it would go out in the mountains fairly well if you had some room on the trail...It was hard to manuever around due to the design but it worked if you didnt ask too much of it. Yes the frontend was prone to pushing some in the real slippery stuff, but what do you expect? Its not like your standard trike where your fat ass determines where you can and cannot go.

For many years this bike did not run, so we would tow it behind our other machines for a trailer or something of some sort i guess (we did this with bicycles stripped snowmobiles downhill sleds...all kinds of other objects too), we were like 9 though so it didnt matter. When this bike did run it wouldnt top out very fast at all, but i would not want to go fast on it either. I'm gonna call up andy and see what he did with it, he might have it in storage still if he didnt get rid of it a few years ago.

Also, Tweeked...a little information for you.

Apparently you don't know who alsport was and have no experience with them. Alsport can be considered a epitome of trashy designed off road machines..

Just look at their subsidary (later on) Boa ski. These sleds were complete piles of trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro. A few of the real simple early ones were okay for the time, but boa ski was left behind with their shoddy designs. Then shoddy design lover Alsport comes along and buys them out and Boa Ski goes out a few short years later due to a number of things..

Their bike maker, had a similar story and met basically the same fate.

Actually, the design of the bike in question isnt too bad for what it is meant for. These critters were meant for just cruising around on light terrain, and they do alright at that. Alsport basically made a "retro go cart". Theres no reason to bash a 30 year old machine, of course its going to look pounded. Take your average atc in 30 years... 'nuff said there. Everyone will look at them and be like "thats how they made em in the days eh! no wonder they axed them!". While Alsport was a all around shitty company, this was probably the best thing they designed. I'm not trying to glorify this machine, it is nothing spectacular but would be cool for a collector of oddball stuff. We took my freind's through some terrain that definently gave it some respect in my eyes.

I meant no harm in calling it a piece of crap, just by looking at it (this is from my point of view) it looks like it's going to fall apart by the wind created by somebody walking towards it. That's why I called it a piece of crap. It may have been fun and everything, but I'm not 60(not saying you guys are old or anything...) so I don't remember using them when I was a kid.
