I would'nt recommend running 18" tyres on 10" rims on the trail, but 20" tyres on 10" rims shouldn't be an issue.

My Aluminium douglas 9" rims on my quad get bends/dents in them all the time but my standard 10" rims on my Tecate have yet to have any problems.

I would have no problems recommending running standard 10" tecate rims with 20" tyres for trail riding.

    BUMP for a usefull thread.
Wish I hadn't sold the 4/4 86/87 Tecate hubs I had. Wondering if anyone has tried or can try 300EX hubs on their second gen Tecate.

300ex hubs are wider then 200X hubs right? Are 86/87 200X hubs the same as 300ex hubs?

That's because the standard rims on the 86-87 Tecates had that rolled lip and are the strongest wheels that I've ever seen. I used to break rocks with those wheels when I was running 18" Fast Trekkers on them on my 250R, and they rarely got more than a scuff on 'em.

Reading between the lines and not very well

So.... I picked up a 1980 ATC 110 yesterday for $80 with three bad tires, a missing seat, and doesnt run. ?Bad deal? anyways, I took it home, put a new plug in and it fired right up. It blows tons of blue smoke though so I think I will be rebuilding the top end. Anywho, my big question is are the hubs from the 83-86 or what not ATC 110's that are 4 lug the same spline count as the ones on my 80? If I could get 4 lug hubs, then I could pick up a set of 4 used tires and rims off a quad for around a hundred bucks instead of one tire for 85$. Hubs are 20$ shipped online, so are they the same spline count?

According to the discussion above, sounds like most anything ATC is the same.

Sorry, Im a noob, this is my first ATV. Not trying to waste your time, please help me out.

Or if you could reffer me to a cheap place for tires.

Yes, the hubs should work just fine. If you change to 4 bolt hubs all the way around you will need to find a different hub for the front as well. I have hubs available if you need hubs ( front and rear ).

I just fitted TRX450R extended billet hubs to my 87 T3. You need to make a 7mm spacer to make it work. But once on there they are a work of art and completely negate the need to try and find those elusive Tecate wide axles.

no problems at all with that, just as long as I don't add too much Honda. I don't want to start slowing the thing down now do I.......
