I'm thinking about getting 1 of these for my wife. Does anyone have any experience with 'em? The reviews are great and ya can't lose with Honda. I was just wondering if someone had some specific input. Thanks!

My friend got one a while back. He was looking for something low maintenance and reliable, good woods quad, but not heavy like the big utilities, with a little bit of zip, but didnt need a racer, and electric start, reverse and automatic clutch with manual gearbox were desired. He loves his, and it seems to have fit his needs perfectly. I liked it, though it doesnt really fit my riding style. They are excellent quality, inexpensive machines, and if it suits your wife's riding style, she will be happy with it. You may also want to look at the 250EX which is almost the same thing, with a different look to it. Im very familiar with both, and have no complaints about either, just not right for me.
I appreciate your response. Why type of riding is the RECON suited toward? Mainly low-speed trail, I presume...?

buy the 250EX Sportrax, i guarantee you will be on it more than her.
...unless you need front and rear racks for some reason...
we went to the honda dealer when my mom wanted a quad looking at the recon, we came out with a rancher. It's a great machine, easier on the body for trail riding, more suspension, more power. My mom's back is bad so it's better for her. Can't go wrong either way.
they r a nice trail riding bike. all i do is trail ride and the 250ex handles really well around corners. if u get it throw some razr tires on it or tires like it. stock balloon tires are trash. but thats my input. the bike goes as fast as anyone needs to go. its got enough power the looks are great the price is great the quality is unmatched reverse electric start automatic. all around nice bike

I say get the Recon. If your going to get an entry level motor it might as well be in a nice utility frame. I'm thinking about one for my girl. There's nothing wrong with a utility and it won't limit anyone from good trail riding. I think it may even be a more comfortable feel than the 250EX.

I would recommend the 250EX. They are great bikes. Every benefit of the Recon but in a sportier package, which is probably what she would want when trying to follow you on the 350X. I think it's easier to ride than the Recon just because it has a sporty, less bulky feel. Plus, if you want the utility side, you can probably put a small rack on it and a hitch for pulling a trailer.

I have a RECON and I think it's pretty nice, I would take the RECON it's cheaper than the 250ex.

If your looking in that price range and power I would strongly consider a Bombardier Rally 200. Light, well designed, and considerably faster and easier to ride than the recon. No 4X4 option yet though. 250EX's and Recons are over priced, and all you pay for are a name. They are very reliable well built machines, but for the price, not worth it.
next to Cannondale, Bombardier is one ofthe more expensive brands.
What does the Rally 200 cost ? It has to be over $3000
Recon is $3499 and it is a proven design.
Check on the Bombardier web site, you'll find its 2,999. And Bombardier is a company thats been around longer than Honda, and has been building high quality machines since its inception.
I take that back, I think Honda has been around longer.
i know that Bombardier is quality. I just get leary about any "first year" unit, usually bound to be problems with any manufactuer.
(This coming from a guy who owns a new Kawasaki ZZR1200... :-)
$2999 is a good price, i looks a little kooky, but i would definitely have to see / ride one before making any decisions.
My 2001 TRX250EX was the first quad i ever rode, the dealer pointed me to a trail behind the shop and said go at it. The first 100 yards i encountered a log as tall as the front tire. So i gunned it and launched it over the limb (after all it wasn't mine), i was so impressed that now it is mine.
