We're going to relocate the top frame tube to accomodate the engine and tank better. Not only do I have to be able to change the plug, but the coil is built right into the plugwire!

Virgil, the inverts are being modified right now. I'll have those on in the next couple weeks.

Derrick ,does it look kike you are gonna have any issue's with the headpipes hitting the downtubes? Also the chian alingment ,does that look like it's gonna be relatively easy ? It look's like it's gonna be a very nice conversion, and another thing ,I see on your list you are putting on a bottle. Are you hooking it up to hit ,with the throttle ??

The headpipe dropped right in behind the frame perfect. No issues. Matter of fact I think a stock YFZ exhaust will fit without any mods. Chain alignment is fine as well. Like I said it fits real well!

P.S. you weren't supposed to know about the nitrous.

Nice lookin project so far, looks like it may even top the CR250 conversion if it all comes together.

Is the 450R swinger longer or shorter than the tri-Z swinger?

Were do you race MX on a trike in 2007? is it just at Trikefest or are there other places to race?

    Cheers

That sled is at Jasons, you'd have to ask him. lol

We still have multiple racing series for trikes here in Ohio. So I'll race this bike in no less than 20 races this season.

The 06-07 450R swinger is exactly the same length as the stocker.

To use this swingarm, we are going to have to use the Honda swingarm bolt, which is a smaller diameter. So we are going to make some weld-in collars for the frame. If you were to do this to a Z with a stock engine, you would also have to make a spacer for the rear of the engine.

Why don't you just use oil impregnated bronze bushings in the swingarm instead of bearings? You can turn the bushings to the right O.D. and I.D. and not have to worry about modifying the frame or the need for any spacers for the motor.

We did discuss that. But we figured since the bearings are brand new, we might as well use them.

Derrick, SAWEEEET! Jason, just found out...my forks will NOT work. Gonna sell em, and buy some others that will. When I get them, I'll send em out. Gotta unload these ones first. Oh ya, look for a package with something else in it... a new OEM take off YFZ450 silencer for the project. I'll square up with D on the shipping later. The pipe is free! Nite all!

Derrick how you gonna kept it cool? I messured my Z's rads compaired to the YZ426f and the bikes are larger. Its just for moto so idle time would be low I guess. Is that a wait and see what works?

Time will tell I guess. They run these engines in all sorts of quads with stock radiators, but don't know about how these will work. If need be, I can order a custom set of thicker ones.

Maybe Xowner could run up a set of bushings that will allow it to be "bolt in"

Very very nice project D. I cant wait to see how this runs, I think its going to be intense! Alot of cool ideas. :
