    can't get her to start

I have an 85 200x I got from a friend for some CD's great deal. It ran strong for about a year. I always had to push start it though (could sometimes kick it a hundred times to fire) but one day it just wouldnt start. I put a new plugwire(same plug, it gets spark) in it re-timed it checked the carb(gets plenty of fuel)it has compression(its not great but its as good as it was when i got her) its just got me going crazy and I dont have a lot of cash it get it pro. checked. any suggestions would bee appreciated.

How good of spark do you have? The reason I ask is the exciter coils are known to go bad on the 1980-85 185-200cc motors.

Unplug the black with red stiped wire coming from the stator. Check it with a ohm meter. It should check 215 -240 ohms. If it's not in that range then that probably is your problem.

Another thing to check would be your compression. When my rings were bad we had to pull start mine
