The 225 DX and the ’85 225 DR use the same forks, it is the ’86 225 DR that has the larger forks (I think I left out that the ’85 has the same size forks in my post last week to someone else). This is what I have learned from the official Yamaha parts microfiche, owning and seeing several YTM’s and talking with others. I believe that the Clymer manual is wrong, they have been wrong before and in that picture they are wrong again. Please double check and let me know, I can handle being told I made a mistake.
The 200, 200E, and 200ERN use the same shocks (30mm diameter). You can also tell these shocks apart by looking on the bottom, there isn’t a drain/disassembly screw there (which makes changing fork seal a pain).
The 225DX and 1985 225DR use the same shocks (30 mm diameter).
The 1986 225DR uses its own shock (32mm diameter). These are the ones that came from the factory with the lower part painted gold.
