    1995 BMW 318i -- CARNAGE PICS!! -- MAJOR UPDATE!!! w00t!!

I found a 1995 BMW 318i 4 door somewhat close to where Im at, normally I wouldnt be interested in it or really even looked twice because there would be no way in hell I could EVER afford it, but this one just seemed to catch my eye. It was this guys daily driver, and one day it just lost power. They towed it home and found that 2 cylinders read 128 psi and the other 2 read 5 psi. So its gonna need either rings or a head gasket replaced, nothing too hard.

Its got 168,000 miles, auto tranny, rear wheel drive, aparantly its in immaculate condition except for the motor, and he said I can look under the car and not find one drop of fluid under there, so it sounds well taken care of. Even has a set of studs on it.

Anyway, Im gonna head in around 3-5pm and go check it out real closely. Its priced CHEAP which is the only reason I can afford to even go look at it. If I do end up getting it, Ill post pics and let you guys guess on what he was asking for it.

BTW is there anything I should really look closely at, specific areas? Im not familiar with this car at all so if anyone is and could tell me a few things I should watch for that would really help.

Before you go to look at it call your local auto parts store and price some common parts like T/U items etc. BMW parts are hella expensive, that's probably why he is selling it so cheap. He can't afford to fix it.

I don't recommend any German vehicle to anybody. They're nice an all.....until they blow up and they are a *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* to work on, and expensive to fix. Just a technicians point of view....

I looked on NAPAs site and they have rings for 56$ per piston and the head gasket set is 199$. I figure I would have about 300$ into the motor plus the cost of buying it, I would still be into it only 1/4 of the average price this car goes for.

It sounds like it was well taken care of, not rallied, so I dont think there will be much I need to fix. I guess Ill when out when we go look at it later...

Well I ended up getting it, the thing was in such good condition Id have been retarded NOT to buy it. It was a suprise, because when the guy spun the motor over it actually fired up for a few seconds, and there were no knocks or odd noises, really just sounds like the timing chain jumped or the fiberglass cam gears got messed up. Its 9:00 pm and dark as anything outside, so pics will come tomorrow. Ill also start poking around at the motor and try finding out exactly whats wrong.

Its got a 100% clean title, sunroof, cd player, electric everything and then some, and I think it was a really great deal. After I post pics Ill let you guys guess how thin the wallet was after picking this beauty up!!

    PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This camera sucks...I need to get a real one. The car looks purple-ish in the pics, but it is actually a dark red. It was the guys daily driver and it quit on him last Thursday (1/10/08) and he just said he was getting too old and didnt have the time to do these kind of things anymore. He took really good care of it, it has brand new shocks, brand new starter, brakes are fairly new, his son did an alignment on it (he works at a tire shop), and the inside is beautiful, just a little dirty on the outside.

He threw the sign in too!!

This was the only real damage to the body.

So.....anyone wanna guess how much coin it took to score this???

I'm going to start low and say a grand or $1500.

Looks really nice, and that interior looks perfect. The only thing I'm not a fan of are those hubcaps, find some factory mags and it'll really set it off.

Yeah I think theyre ugly too, but for winter rims they do good enough. Ill definately be keepin an eye out for a factory set tho.
