Well I just got back from picking up the head from the shop. I dont have any pics at the moment since I dont have my camera but Ill try and get some on the older camera. Ill be putting it together as much as I can tomorrow, I still need a few small things to finish.

Anyways, I managed to get the old valves back so heres a pic of how bad they are when taken out.

Sorry about the lighting, the camera I used is worthless and cant pick up light well at all.

Better pics of the bent valves...

Head, bead blasted and fresh with all new valves.

    Shiny!!!

I put a new stereo in it also, not the best but better then the tape deck from the stone age that was in it.

Another pic of the car, and my favorite thing in the world parked next to it.

I still need to find the missing pieces in the intake.

    So heres where its at:

Both arrows on cam gear facing up and lined up with the markes I made on the chain before I took it off, and centered on the cams.

Crank gear in the keyway, crank/flywheel locking tool inserted

Both cams held by locking tool, front lobes facing each other, small holes in the back end of cams both facing upward, and markes I made on cams facing upward just how they were before removal.

    Close up

    Other gear

Everything how I think it should be...

Hardly any wear on them. The whole engine has a suprisingly small amount of wear for being at 151,000 miles. Guess its just getting broken in!!

Lmao, thanks! I had a few other guys come double check what I had there any they all said it looked right, so I spun the motor over with a rachet and nothing 'ticked' or bound up so I guess I got it right!!

Now Im just waiting for the lower timing cover gasket to come in, for some reason they dont feel the need to include one in the head gasket set. After that comes in, I can assemble the engine all the way up to the intake, which Im still looking for parts for. Would any of you believe that there isnt ONE junkyard within 75 miles that has an engine for this car, and the only place that DID have one sold the damn thing pretty much right before I called them!! And BMW isnt much help, apparantly the parts diagrams dont show the part I need, so according to them the part doesnt exist. Ahh, the joys of being a mechanic....

MAJOR UPDATE!!!!!!! I bought an intake off ebay and it F-I-N-A-L-L-Y came today, and now the engine is about 90% together. I had to get another spark plug seal (mfg defect), put both intakes on, throttle body, wiring, hoses, really all thats left is to put on the airbox and rest of the cooling system, and I might need to pick up a waterpump. But other then that itll soon be ready to fire it up!!!

    More goodies soon to come!!!!

Another update, this is as far as I can get as I need to buy a new waterpump now. Got the TB on, airbox, and finished up all the small stuff.

This was the ONLY thing that broke when I was disassembling stuff, its the little angle valve thing that went on the bottom of the charcoal canister and connected it to the blue line. I used a spark plug boot to replace it, the kind that you can make your own wires from, so it didnt have the metal piece inside it. Prefect fit on both ends.

    w00t!!!!!!!! SHE RUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Schucks overnight shipping FTMFW!!! Waterpump came in today, and I picked up some coolant and distilled water, which was the last thing I needed. Stuck that in, put the spark plug wires on along with the firewall panel, jumped the battery (its dead from sitting since January, dont laugh ), and it fired right up!!!!!!!!

Runs and revs real smooth, but the idle kinda jumps up and down a little bit. Its not really all that bad though, I can live with it for a while. Only problems Ive seen is that theres a light that comes on, looks like one of the airbag lights. Also the Check Engine light comes on after letting it idle for a bit, but if I rev it up it goes away.

And a HUGE thanks again to EVERYONE who helped me get this car finished!!! I really cant believe its already running!!! More pics tomorrow!!!!
