    TRX250R aluminum airbox installed on ATC250R w/pics

Hello all. I wanted to try and improve my air flow to the carb on my 85 250r. Never liked the 90 degree turn and the bumps in the rubber connecting tube. So I purchased an aluminum airbox for a TRX. I was able to get it installed with lots of little mods. A little grinding here, bracket removal there, turn the shock around, relocate the shock res. etc. Heres some pics.

We've all seen the stock set up.

Here's the TRX box installed. The rear mounts to the seat latch bolt. I had to taper the front mount of the box slightly. I ended up removing the factory air box mounts. I also remove the rear little cross bar the green wire grounds on. There are little notches in the box here and there.

From the front. Also shock has been turned 180 for hose clearance. Res. mounting bracket gone.

    Carbs. view.

Most time consuming part. I started with a piece of 2.5 inch and a piece of 4 inch exhaust pipe. I slid the 2.5 in and marked it. Then I cut slots in the 4 inch and started pounding and shaping. Along with cutting, grinding, and welding. It turned out pretty good. Pic is in the early stages.

Done. Everything hooked up except a shock res. clamp missing in this pic.

I used cheap silicone tube from ebay to hook the pieces together.

Need to get a TRX sized filter next.

    Underneath view.

All for now. Time to go ride.

Ahh........that is so what I need for mine. Nice job.
What brand of box did you use? How about the lid? Also, could you possibly measure where the filter mounts in the box. I'm using an open K&N on my 38 PWK, with a homemade PVC inlet tube. I planned on enclosing it eventually. This looks like just what the doctor ordered!!!

" I actually think it is good that you have clubs where people can go and enjoy riding these things together. It reminds me of how the prisoners on death row have fun waiting for their turn on the electric chair. Fair enough, the trike isn't an electric chair, but it is about as safe and comfortable as one."

Yup. Could care less about it being aluminum. It's the straight funnel shot to the carb. I was after.

the less bends for the intake or exhaust, the better the engine breathes. the motor will make power more efficiently
