I have a bench grinder one of the stone wheels has been replaced with a rotary wire brush. i just clean them up sort of to a dull polish finish the shiner the better.
Then the guy at the platters dips them in acid then re zinc plates them to silver or gold whatever the original colour is from factory.
I have had parts bead blasted then put to the platter, the finish was dull and crap, you really need to polish the parts for the best finish.
