this is what I started with. A rusty-ass 200m that I picked up for $40. I rebuilt the carb ($20), threw in a new spark plug ($2), and dug up a new pull starter for it ($20). The engine fired right up no problems. I'll throw the 200m in the 200x frame and then with about another $100 of bits I'll have a good running trike. It will be a grand total of under $400. Not too bad and a lot of fun working on it in the process.

and then here is the 200m sitting in my garage next to the trx200 project I picked up for $100 that only really needs a new cam chain and sprocket along with the hardware. I already got the chain and sprocket and just have to pick up the hardware tomorrow. That project is going to come out to under $200, so in the end I'll have both done for under $600. Then I'll just need to get a trailer, so I can haul them somewhere to ride and have some fun.

I'm not ready to start selling parts off of it yet, but I will let you know when I am. Shoot me an email and make me an offer. matthew.smith5@gmail.com

I also have a brand new seat that I haven't even stapled to the seatpan yet if anyone is interested.

Thats lookin good. You'll need the 200x engine mounting plates (bottom front) and the carb intake boot. I've just done the same myself (200s motor) and its a brilliant machine, great for mud-plugging an hill climbs

AWESOME!!! do you have any other info/advice? Does the 200x have a battery, because i don't see where it would go if it does. I'm in the process of downloading a manual right now to check it out. If you have any parts leftover let me know. I know I'll be needing a rear caliper and possibly a chain. That reminds me... what sprocket sizes did you go with? Stock for the 200x or the 200s? The chain on my 200m is rusty as hell, so i'll probably pick up a new one.

No battery on the 200x. Put the filter directly on the carb and place the battery in the airbox is your best bet.

That seems like a pretty mean trike. I wish I could find a cheap 200X or 200X frame for my 200S engine but they are extremely rare where I come from. What exhaust are you going with for the 200M/X? Does the 200M exhaust fit or do you need to fit a 200X exhaust?

Do I NEED a battery? Plus...I didn't swap the motor yet, but it looks like there wouldn't be room behind the carb for a filter, because the rear shock is right there. I guess I'll check it all out when I get around to swapping parts over. The trx200 will probably get my attention before the 200x. There is less to worry about there.

Oh, and if I don't move the battery over to the 200x then what else will I not need. Voltage regulator.... what else? and what WOULD I need the batter for? I don't need an electric start or headlight. I'm fine with just a pull start and no other electicals....

I'm not sure if the M exhaust would fit. Doesn't matter for me, because my 200m exhaust crumbled in my hands when I was removing it. The head pipe was good, but the rest was nothing but rust. I'm picking up a used, but in great condition cobra exhaust from a guy for real cheap.

the biggest bridge to cross, so to speak, is the brake lever, as the 200x one is mounted to the engine casing, i just welded the 200s lever to the swivel bracket thingy on the 200x frame. i'll post some pics in a bit. Also the gear lever i had to shorten by an inch an quarter. I'm not sure bout the 200m motor, but the shift shaft on the 200s motor is slightly too long and touches the footpeg braket, which was easily sorted by adding 2 bits of 1/4 inch of steel tube between the bracket an frame, with slightly longer bolts. there's a really good thread on here somewhere about one.

OUTSTANDING article. THanks a lot. In that article it didn't say anything about needing the x motor mounts though. It did mention having to trip the left case cover though. DId you have to do that? It all looks pretty straight forward, but I won't be able to weld the brake arm like you talked about. I would have to take it somewhere to get it done. My project may go without rear brakes for a bit. Just putting around the neighborhood it will be fine with no rear brakes. I'll get it sorted out before I do any "real" riding on it though.

    Thanks again....

oh, and that write up says to use the intake manifold and carb off of the 200x. Did you have to do this or did you make the 200s stuff work?

    Here's the pics.......

Thats the trimmed down chainguard. its easy, nice an soft

This is the spaced out footpeg bracket to clear the shiftshaft

Here is the brake lever, its a bit tricky to get right, I'm a fabricator/welder so got all the tools, i had to cut a bit out of the end/thinner section, and add a piece into the thicker section, as to get the shape around the footrest

I had a 200x headerpipe, just no mainsection, so with a pitbike endcan, a section of the wifes rotary washing line and a section of CG125 headerpipe, and i little welding, i created this. it survived trikefest

This is the finished product. Not a beauty i know, but a very practical, mud plugging machine
