Well here it is. The curious case of Jim's SX. Jim USERJ8670... This is "How to save a trike". Jim, is a local guy. Lives about 20 minutes from my parents place in NY. We became good buddies through the forum and he has asked me for some help getting his SX back in shape. She's tired. She's 25+ years old. This trike has seen the "Zero Maintenance" policy. Its time for some love...

First up is to bring the bearings and other essentials up to date. Since Twilight took down his SX and had trouble I was getting ready to do the same to Jim's SX. Here's what I did in about 25 minutes tonight...

As you can see. SERIOUS WATER INTRUSION. Some brainiac decided. Well since the driveshaft boot is torn...Why not just silicone her up! DING DING. Wrong...

You can attribute that genious move to what you see here. Tomorrow I will open up the diff. and see what there is to see inside. Guarenteed to be full of sludge.

We got Jim all of his ALLBALLS kits for this SX already too. Lets just say I can beat a certain board member by 45% on his price of ALLBALLS bearings...Its a god forsaking travesty...

just curious are 250sx good? Are they fast and have power or are they more of a work 3 wheeler?

Can you post up a trick on how to remove the differential bearings when you get to them? slow200s and I need to remove them on his sx.

Okay... but how did it come out? Today I used a sledge and a press at work and it didnt budge once. I dont know why or what, but its hitting something.

It comes out the right side...

Your axle must be frozen solid in the differential. Thats all I can think of Twilight. This one came out like a knife in hot butter. I just pulled it out. Didn't even hit it...

Thats all there is too it Bud. Not sure what your doing... But this is about as simple as it gets when it comes to trikin'

But as I said before, mine will move side to side 3-4in at the most, then it just stops. Did it by the manual and tried pulling both sides and hitting both. Should I just destroy the differential thats on it to get it off?

Fast...not so much. do about 45-55 depending who you ask. They are torquey, very similar to the big red but a little faster and upgraded suspension. They are built like tanks. I like mine and would have a hard time letting it go. I wish it would go faster but with an auto clutch and drive shaft its the perfect trail machine! Hope that helps!

Twlight. Just take the swingarm itself off. This should allow you to un hook the drive shaft. Unbolt the diff and pop it off. You should see whats holding you up then.

do you know what size that hex is to take it off? Looks like a 17mm?
