    250sx run without battery?

    looking @ wiring diagram

looks like my should 250sx run without battery by the CDI getting power off alternator when you kick start it.

Looks like ground from ignition or kill switch are the only thing that will keep it from kick starting

    Is all this true?

That is all true. Battery is only there to provide electric start.

You will need to have the machine in neutral to kickstart it as well.

Yepper, you can run them without a battery fine. Although, your lights will be very dim while idle but once you hit the gas they will brighten up.

    run with out battery

if you run without the battery, cover your terminal ends with electrical tape.you dont want the charging system to ground out.

Most wheelers only use the battery for the electric start; it's the same basic setup as any car or truck. Once the engine is running you can completely disconnect the battery. If the engine still runs you know the alternator/stator is producing electrical power. If the engine quits when the battery is disconnected, the alternator/stator was not producing electrical power, and the battery was the only source of electrical power to the engine.

My CT90 is an exception to this. From my limited understanding of it's electrics, the battery must be installed because it doubles as a voltage regulator. It is not however the source of power used to keep the engine running.

aaron7 - A 125M should run without a battery installed. For a few summers we shared a single battery between our two 125M's. Hooked onto it to start the machines and tore around the yard. When we grew big enough the pull start became the easier option. I'm not sure of the top of my head why yours isn't doing the same; I wonder if something isn't grounded or something else is amiss.

I heard that running a electric start machine without a battery will damage the electrical system.
