I had to redo the pull cord from the inside. the pull cord was hanging on by a thread inside.. This was my first time so i ended up pulling the entire aasembly apart. how do i get the main spring would up and getthe rope back in there afterwards with out it coming un raveled and how do i get the ropde in there at that point? i fought this for some time last night. i really tried to do it all with out taking the bottom peice off but i couldnt figure out anyway and the book says you can do it but with out any good ideas.

Whinding the spring back is a b*tch. But with patience and some long nose vise grips i managed to whind one back in before. The rope is a lot easier, take the handle offf!!!!!!!! Make sure your rope is turned on the right side though, depending on models, but most of the time its couterclockwise.
If you cant put your spring back in, they sell springs now that are made innside a casing so they can never unwhind.

Putting the spring back is actually very easy once you know the trick to doing it. The First time it may take 5-10 minutes to get the spring in. After doing 10-15 of them you will be doing it in under a minute.

    How I do it:
#1 Take and hook the end of the spring in housing and hold it there with your left hand.
#2 Take your right hand and slowly work the spring in about 1/2 to 2/3 the way around and hold it there with your right hand.
#3 Slide your left hand around about 4" ( holding the spring in the housing ).
#4 Take your right hand work about 4" more of the spring in the housing. And hold it there.
#5 Repeat steps #3 & #4 until the spring is in the housing.

#6 Install the rest of the parts and your done.

I have taught this trick to a lot of people. It works so good most of them got it on the first try.
