new ride problems
i just got a 1983 185s, i got it running, but it idles real high, not sure why, you have to play with the kill switch to take off (i couldn't wait to ride it), does anybody know what could be the problem? the throttle feels a little loose until a certain points then it revs the motor
-
sorry if you did but have you played with the idle screw yet

i did but it didn't change anything, I'm not sure what it could be, its been setting up in my uncles shed for about ten years, I'm sure that has something to do with it, not sure if its a throttle cable or something else, i took the carb off and cleaned it, and Ive already ordered a carb rebuild kit

Did you change the o-rings between the carb and the intake manifold. Idling up by itself usually means its sucking air from somewhere and thats usually where. I had the same problem once and the o-rings were flattened out too much to seal. This gets overlooked alot when people pull the carb off.

no, how do you tell when they are too flat? sorry Ive never had an atc before, and the throttle seems like its kind of stuck, its loose to a certain point, and then it finally starts to rev the engine when you press it
