Post Finally we might get 200 rear fenders from Maier....

So I thought I would get you all excited for the possible future of Maier MFG finally making replacement fenders for the 200ES,E,M... etc.
I have been in talks with Maier about using my original NOS fenders for casting so that they can get a replica
made to reflect as close as they can to the original with their molding processes. I just shipped them out to Maier
yesterday so I will let you all know how it turns out in the near future.

I would assume they would be around the same as the other sets... so no clue really.

Looking up part numbers, here's the machines the 200ES fenders interchange with.

    1982-1983 ATC200E Big Red
    1984 ATC200ES Big Red
    1984-1985 ATC200M

I'm pretty sure all the 200S models didn't have the two part rear fenders, so they wouldn't fit.

Yea those are the models that these fenders fit. They are by far the most common here in Canada as well.
I figure you will see a boom for parts once the fenders are available.

They are paying for it all... their molds. They are going to receive the fenders I sent, analyze and see what they can do.
I will have the choice to sell or get my originals returned. However, the molding process can scratch and require mounts to be glued
to the originals, thus the original fenders may and most likely will have scratches and residue. So I am most likely going to sell.
This way they can keep them and reuse them for future casting if needed.
As they do vacuum forming, you can't get some of the shapes that you get with injection molding.
Thus the final results may vary. But hey, it's to keep the mud down in the end.

I'm pretty sure that the 200S fenders are already being made.

Looks like the fenders got to Maier safe and sound. The box they were in got crushed a little. 'n UPS sack of shits. Dosen't matter how much writing you put on it.

Anyways... Anyone near Sacramento, CA have a 1984 200ES Big Red that can be loaned to Maier for fitment of the new fenders? Let me know if you or someone you know would be interested.

    Thanks

There's a reasion my family calls UPS "oops". From experience, FedEx is a lot better about keeping the packages in good shape. I get banged up / crushed boxes all the time with UPS. USPS I think is better than UPS generally, but they have moments too for boxes that come that looks like they went though a war. Sometimes it comes down to packing technique though. A loose item in a box will have the end product of a beat up box and possible holes in it depending how thin the box is and how heavy/pointy the item is. Anyway, hopefully the fenders arrived undamaged.

I have a bunch of 200es machines, too bad I'm in Michigan lol.

If you can get them to make a mold for a 35y.o. part and they pay or it?? You've done very well.

Molds are not cheap, even a vac form mold...
