Prices vary greatly across the country. What else do you know about it?
Does it run? Lights work? Brakes work?
Cosmetically it looks like the the plastics and seat are in nice shape.
The 125's are pretty fun and actually very capable with the HiLo tranny.
I'd say it's a pretty good priced assuming it runs, drives etc and the rest of the machine mechanically is as good as it looks cosmetically. I've bought ugly parts machines for $250 each and that was pushing my upper limits (aka take 2 machines and make 1 good one for $500 + the work involved). Of course I got the short end of the stick, both machines have a broken boss that is part of the shifting system. Make sure it shifts easily though the gears before you buy it. Sounds to be a somewhat common problem if the shifter ever was ran into something, or the rider forced it though the gears.
I can see from the picture that I’ll need a new headlight trim ring . The owner says it works just needs a new bulb. He also says it starts on the first pull or push of the button . No smoke , will idle and runs like it should . I’ll find out Saturday about anything that might be hiding .
Thanks for the heads up on the shifting! I’ll definitely give that a good look. Do they all have this issue ? Should I consider another model like the 200cc ? I’ve done some reading about the broken Boss deal and it looks like a nightmare.
The broken boss I've only seen on the 125, the 70,90,110 engines have a similar shift system though, but the shifter ratchet tooth thing breaks off and is replaceable compared to the actual case breaking. The 185+ engines use a different system to turn the shift drum, stronger design overall but if the shift lever is ran into something, the shifter part can still break, replaceable again though. The machines I bought were beat and in poor shape, so not a good sample for average machines, but I can't really comment more than that since I've never rode one around or anything.
I did most of my early learning on a 1984 125M back in the early 90's. I'd still love to have a first gen 125M today.
