    250r questions.

I believe my 85 has 86 rear fender with the embossed warning on them. I see pics of 250r with the black decal on top of the fenders, are those just added?
also one of the scoops is cracked, are the new honda scoops for sale actual honda scoops or aftermarket? does the coloration the red tank and fenders?
lastly, the rubber square fender bumpers,.is there a low cost alternative for them? what are they 1x2.5x1.5 inches of rubber?
I'm just trying to decide where to start and stop on my trike.

oops the chain slider? plastic piece between the chain and frame is falling apart, low cost replacement for that? thanks. jim

Yes, those are just vinyl decals for the number plate backgrounds, and they came from Honda that way. An inexpensive alternative is to get some vinyl decal material from a local sign making shop, and make your own patterns and decals. OEM is a matte black vinyl.

I believe the OEM radiator shrouds are now discontinued, so most likely what you're finding is aftermarket Maier units. Not a bad choice at all, but you'll notice the shapes, bends, and edges are not as sharp as OEM, and the red color isn't an exact match to the factory Honda Passion Red. Most people seem to think Maier's Fighting Red is the closest to Honda's Passion Red.

    No I don't.

I think this is going to be as low cost as they come: https://www.amazon.com/Slider-Buffer...79305086&psc=1

Hopefully yours still has the metal tab, that fits into the upper & lower slots, then bolts to the swingarm, as this one doesn't seem to include it. If not, it would be very easy to make though.

Radiator Shrouds are still available from Honda - and can be had on eBay or any parts warehouse like Partzilla, BikeBandit etc

thanks. ordered the slider and Amazon had 1986 bumpers for 9.70 not sure if there's a big difference but I'll make them work.
now decision time, the shroud has a crack or two. so does the headlight bucket and front fender.
if I keep it, maybe just order a new set of maiers or the 350 dollar ebay complete set (any good?). jim

Yes, that's fine. Everyone has their own opinions on the matter, but you're very safe at 32:1.

Like stated above the tank shrouds can be found on ebay or through Honda
    For oiling, I use Motul 710 oil, I mix it 40:1 (84r) to 50:1 (86r)
I have not fouled a single plug running these mixes, yes it may be a bit smokier than others
but I know its well lubricated.
I also have the same amazon chain slider it fits perfect no issues

20:1 is only the right mix if you are running an oil that was formulated and purchased in the late 1980s.
If you are using a modern oil made in the past few years you won't need to go that rich.
I run between 36:1 - 40:1 in my 250R's with great success. 40:1 will be fine.

I have used Klotz and Amsoil since the 80s.Same oil as today. My Uncle ran Amsoil in all his 250rs in the 80s at 80:1 he used the Amsoil that was recommended to be run at 100:1.I have always ran 32:1 even if I have to use regular non synthetic oil.
