1983 Honda 250r built from scratch
I bought this '83 frame in the spring of 2003 as a spare for my '84. As it turns out, I kept buying more parts until I wanted a whole new ride. At first I thought "500r" but that quickly died. It had a rattle can paint job when I got it for $50 but needed a complete blasting and new paint. The title was clear and I transferred it into my name.
...another shot of the frame to the right. The frame pics were taken in my sons bedroom because I was storing the frame in the attic which has the door in his room. The triple trees pictured are no good to me on this project because they are from a '84 200x and I'm putting a complete '85+ front set-up on this frame.
To the left is some of my engine that I got on eBay for around $80. It came with a cylinder but until I find a better one the engine build is on hold. I have a '84 250r and been though these before. I'll pay someone to do the machining work for me but should be able to do the rest with my trusty Haynes manual.
Here is some of the '85 front end modeled by my oldest son Alex ;). I had the brake parts in a box still but wanted a picture to put up here. As you can tell I still haven't gone tire shopping yet, but Christmas is coming!
I was never sure the 1985 front forks would work. I test bolted them up and it looks like a perfect fit! My wife was gone with the kids for a few days so I can play with toys in the living room like a bachelor.
