I am trying to start my 1984 Big Red 200ES with the electric start while in gear.
Anyone know an easy way to make it think it is in neutral?

Why would you want to start it in gear? That's going to put a lot of stress on the starter, unless you're going to be holding the shifter either all the way up or all the way down, so it's in neutral between gears?

I just bought it and the previous owner couldn't get it running. I can't seem to get the thing in neutral and want to see if the thing fires before I start tearing it apart.

push start doesnt work with the es and the sx's they ahve to have neutral or (think thier in neutral) via bypassing the neutral switch and you woudl be suprised how often startign my sx in gear has saved my butt in tight spots

i mean it can be done if you djust the clutches so they spin the motor over in gear and get it spinnign in 1st gear and then kick it into neutral spinnign hella fast i have gotten lucky startign mine that way from time to time.
