Jet changes with PT Hi-Rev & V Force 3 Reeds

I've got an 85 ATC 250r thats bone stock except for a KN filter with the airbox removed. Im getting ready to add a PT Hi-Rev pipe and a V Force 3 reed cage.

What are the steps I need to take in order to get the jetting right so I don't melt the piston?

Buy different size Main Jets, You want a Brown Spark plug color.

Do a Compression Check make sure your with in spec 170 psi - 199 psi

If it's out of spec - New piston & rings ...

Start with a higher main jet than you feel you'll need and work down from there.

You may have to bump up your pilot one size, but it is a "hi rev" pipe so??

Unfortunately, all you guys that change setups and need to tune, you will need a good amount of jets unless your very lucky!!

I honestly hate telling people to blow extra coin.....But..
In this case, Take that 85 R carb and throw it at a stray animal in your yard.

Get a PWK 38 mil carb and start at a 175 main, or get a PJ 86 TRX R carb,and start at a 168 main, and go from there.You will probably be close with the 168 main in that carb.
The stock 85 ATC carb sucked.

what kind of riding do you do? i am going to tell you right now,,,, that pipe will not work with stock porting and carb,,,,, the power band is so high with stock porting it will really suck ,, i have a pt and its back on the shelf,,, NO LOWEND AT ALL!!! WE TOOK IT TO THE DUNES AND THE KIDS WERE SO MAD AT ME BY THE TIME WE LEFT !!! i put the ole fmf back on,,,, WAY better!!

the PT is a good pipe if you have a little motor work to help it out,,,
