View Full Version : Bleeding 200x rear brake?

I've got everything done on my 200s motor in 200x frame, accept for bleeding the rear brake. Neither brake had any fluid in them. The front pulled right through and works fine, but the rear won't cooperate. We used a hand vacuum bleeder to pull fluid down from the reservoir to the caliper. I can make the fluid move by squeezing the lines, but the master cylinder doesn't act like there's any fluid in it. I suspect there's an air bubble trapped inside, but can't decide how to get it out.
Anybody have a method to get this done. I want to go riding.

All I can say is you gotta bleed the s**t outta it. I had the same problem on my 500 and just a couple weeks ago on Brrcuda's 250R. Sometimes I leave the bleeder open and put my finger over it with just enough pressure to let the fluid and air out but not let air in. You would be surpised how long it can take to get that baby pumped up. Just keep bleeding, and bleeding, and bleeding, and bleeding. I was about to scrap my master and just as I was about to give up, it came to life. Just keep going.

Well, I guess I'll keep bleeding. I've seen bikes do this before, and it is frustrating. Thanks

a simple trick I have heard of is to find a piece of vinyl tubing that fits tightly over the bleeder, and run it from the bleeder to the reservoir on the master. you can leave the bleeder open without worrying about sucking air back in, and the reservoir wont run dry. pump pump pump hold, crack the bleeder, and then just pinch the vinyl line so you don't suck air back through. Its also nice that you can see the air bubbles in the line so you know its working.

X2...
Its also possible you have a junk master.

Finally decided to pull the master cylinder off the trike. The piston was stuck, bad. Had to use air to get it out of the body. I cleaned all the sludge out and reassembled it.
Then it bled right out and the brakes work great. 1st stop was more of a slow down, 2nd stop slid the tires. My son figured out how to keep the parking brake or cable activate the rear so I can stop with the pedal or hand lever.
I had this motor geared 11-44 in the 200s frame, now it's 12-40, and quite fast. As soon as it cools down, I'm headed to Waynoka to try it out.
