I was a member here maybe 10 years ago but I sold my ATCs when life got in the way. I've owned 6 of them since I was a kid in the 80s. I came across one a neighbor was selling 2 years ago and couldnt pass it up. It had spent most of it's life on a camp groud, mostly used to tow a small drinking water tank.

When I got it, it had been mostly sitting for about 10 years, inside a neighbors shed. It ran decent, but refused to idle, and had a bad "bog" at full throttle. Fast forward 2 years. It has a new carb on it, and idles great, but the bog is still there. It only does it at high load and at full throttle. If you slowly ease into full throttle it is fine, but you cant "gun it" or it will bog.

If you switch the choke from off to the 1/2 choke position the bog goes away. It seems to be too lean at full throttle. What can I do to fix it?

Also, the mud flaps that attach to the rear fenders are cracking around the bolt hears and need replaced.

Where can I get new ones? Thanks in advance for all your help!

Hey - nice 200S.

Regarding your bog at full throttle - what size Main jet is in it. If you replaced the carb - possibly it has a different sized main in it.

secondly - about your mud flaps - I have a set - PM me if you want em for shipping cost only! they are not new - but are pretty nice and are not cracked!

PM sent, thanks!

I have no idea on the carb. When I bought it online it was listed as an oem replacement. I was also told by the neighbor I got it from that when it was bought new he thinks he had the dealer do an "upgrade" to the engine, but he couldnt remember anything about it (he is in poor health).

Do you know what size a stock main jet is? Can I pick up a larger one at the local honda dealer?

If you still have the stock carb clean it really well .. take everything out / off of it and you will be fine .... if you insist on running the Chinese carb take it to a place that can match jets and go up 2 sizes. Some of these take keihn jets some don't Nice 200s btw and welcome back to 3ww

Thanks, I'd actually prefer to run the factory carb, but it needs rebuilt, and I know nothing about small carb rebuilding. I doubt the local Honda is going to want to mess with it.

Is there anywhere I can send the carb to have the work done?

Is the air box lid on the trike ? sometimes hondas are temperamental if you remove them . don't like to rev up correctly and it messes with the jetting and air fuel mix . I'm not a fan of the Chinese carbs . Clean the old one its not hard !!!

Yea, the air box is intact and all original.

nice find!

just go to your dealer and order a K&L carb rebuild kit. It is just a handful of small parts. All you need to do to "rebuild" your original carb is to swap out all the old clogged jets and rotted rubber parts with the new ones...and make sure everything is spotless and all air passages are clear ....do all this with a good can of carb cleaner and reasemble it. Then trash the chinese junk carb, if that's what it actually is. There is no reason to buy a new carb unless the actual carb body is broken somehow

Nice ride and welcome. If you have the $ to goto the dealer then do it, but you are better off getting to know how it works for future benefit. If it starts to act up, you'll know whats up. Make sure you put an inline fuel filter once you do get it right. There is alot of info on rebuilding carbs. It's not hard to take it apart and put it back together. Take pics if your not sure. Just remember, clean it completely and put it back exactly how it was. Have fun and Good luck, Beets

Thanks guys. I took it for a ride at my property yesterday and the "bog" is really bad in anything higher than 2nd gear, it wont even accelerate at more then 3/4 throttle. Giving it half choke makes the problem nearly go away, but obviously kills a lot of power.

I'm going to clean and rebuild the factory carb. What is the difference between a main jet and a pilot jet? Where can I get a bigger main jet if I end up needing one? It is definately starving for fuel over 3/4 throttle.
