Probably a stupid question...but here goes.

I bought a 1985 Yamaha Tri Zinger 60cc, about 4 months ago. I tuned it up yesterday. But I can't figure out how to change the gearbox oil?

It is a shaft drive, and the rear axle is driven by a gearbox. Does it use oil? Is the gearbox lubed by some other means?

There is no drain, or refill plug. It has a breather hose off the top of it.

Thanks for any help.

Dave

The Drain plug is actually on the side, near the bottom, right behind the right foot peg, and not underneath where youd expect. To refill, you need to measure out 300cc, as there is no other means to indicate full.

Yes, I changed the engine oil. 10.25 ozs (I think)

I was wondering about the drive shaft gearbox. (on rear axle)
Is that also lubed by engine oil? Or does it take gear oil?

This is the first shaft drive I've ever owned, but all the gearboxes I have ever seen need oil to operate. Just wanted to change it.

I bought a haynes manual (big mistake). That didn't help at all.

Thanks,
Dave
