200x kick start prob

hey guys & gals.been a long time sence ive been on this site.how ya all doing? Ibought an 84 honda 200x awhile back that has just been sitting in my shed.now is time to fix it. heres the deal.when i try to kickit over it dont catch untill im about 3/4 of the way down.I talked to a few locals that said it could be a spring prob.what do you think? If that is prob do I have to split cases ? Thx for any info

Drain oil and remove right side case. Check 2 half gears for the kicker that mesh and make sure they are in the right position. There is a link for a manual here. Good luck, this link has really helped me, got it from a member here. http://72.52.143.80/~trikes/atc200x_83-85_servicemanual.pdf
