I just picked up a hunting camp that's about 1-1.5 miles in on a dirt road from the main parking lot.
Since I don't have a truck, I plan on hooking up my 4x6 ATC trailer up to my 1982 ATC200 to bring in supplies. Does anyone see a problem with doing this?

You could tow a 4x4 quad with your atc-200. I say no problem has long has you have good brakes.

Remember if you give it a handful of gas that frontend will come off the ground.

Kind of rude but maybe that just my interpretation.

Heck yeah. That thing will pull that and then some :) Yup the front wheel will come up so beware. Corse you could be the coolest guy ever pulling a trailer while riding a wheelie :D (if you do get some video..lol)

I'll have to get the vid of me pulling my 18ft boat sitting on the handlebars doing a wheelie.

Thanks for the advice! The "official" Honda towing capacity is so low it's absurd so I wanted to see what people really did with their trikes.

It will be very cool to unload my ATC from the trailer and then hook up the same trailer to it.

Taken directly from the manual from my 1982 200:
Max drawbar pull: 20 lbs
Weight on hitch point: 200 lbs

These figures are low to me, so that's why I asked.

Well, being that his user name is "methmonster420" it makes sense

I've seen some of the shaft drive trikes pull some crazy loads ;)

it is prob the exact same as the 200, the chassis are the same and the motor is only a bit smaller

I have been using my 200e to pull cut logs out of the woods!! I tell ya it impressed the trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro out of me!!! I was pulling logs that had to weigh 6-700 lbs!! and that was straight dragging them through the woods. with that low gear sub-tranny, the 200e pulls alot better than my shaft driven 250es. I worked the piss out of that thing, does get hot though, had to give her a break every once in awhile.

Should tow it just fine. Almost every time i ride one of us ends up breaking down. Only 1 way out of the wood when your a few miles in and thats by towing with another 3 wheeler or atv wether its up or downhill, it seems to work very well. Just be careful on hill when you give it throttle, be smooth about it and lean over the bars or you may dump your supplies ;)

you should have avbsolutely no problem every year i roll my 1 acre yard with a 1500lb roller pulled behind my beater 250sx.. yes thats 1500lb steel rollor filled with concrete.. now needless say i cant leave the super low 1rst gear on the sx but it does pull it with no much problem, now if i had hill on my yard that would be another story lol

any yes i wheelie the trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro out of it when i do it but my beater has a front rack on it so i throw like 3 60lb sand bags on the front and its good to go lol

like i said this is my beater lol

with my 86 big red i was pulling a 2200lbs wood chipper i just put my little brother on the front rack and without breaking a sweat it went. the brakes were slightly inadequate:naughty:

ouch 2200lbs its crazy.... My self to take it easy on clutch pack and rear end 1000 would be the max for me pulling with my 250 big red.. on the other hand
my we had a 1994 Polaris Big Boss 6x6 300cc two stroke that i towed 3000 worth of Hay.... that belt did not like it at all... smoked it pretty good.

That picture of the trikes on the trailer just sort of solved a mystery for me. I used to own what I thought was an atc200. The axle bent, and the sprockets were shot, so I junked it. That was years ago, when the repair cost more than the bike. I wish I still had it. But I always thought it was an 84, but it looked exactly like the one in the picture. I had/have an 85 110, and the way I remembered the years was the 200 was one year older than the 110. But I've never seen a picture of an ATC200 1984 that looked like mine.

As far as pulling a trailer, just don't over work the clutch, and let the clutch engage before giving any power.

Here is my atc70 a while back......I think you are safe with a 200:lol::lol: I once hauleda Troybilt tiller to the neighbors down the road. Pulled it great, had to stay on the seat to load and unload:rolleyes: Why people ask me...Why???:wondering:wondering  Good luck....tow away brother!!! http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo321/andyatc70/th_Picture327-1.jpg (http://s388.photobucket.com/albums/oo321/andyatc70/?action=view&current=Picture327-1.jpg)

I have one of those little dump trailers from Wally World. It's got a 700lb capacity, and I fill it with cut wood and pull it with my 200s. I don't know how much actual weight I've had in it, but I've had it so full that I was worried it wasn't going to move, but it always does!

danget, well, any ideas on how to, i need one that Only attaches to the axle. I dont want it adding stress to the suspension.

prolly have to be fabbed as that is a disc brake rear end?? I am sure a factory 110 or 125 0r 200 hitch would be a start and cut and weld from there. Could do drop hitch off fram where grab bar is?? Woul look kind of cluster@%$^&* though??

Cro577
01-20-2010, 06:47 PM
ya, i need one that goes only off the axle, i dont want to put weight on the shock if i dont have to.
