When are you guys thinking? I still have to get down for one of these famous rides. September? October? I have a wedding friday Oct. 16th in the Reading area and could easly toss the trike in the truck to spend the weekend in PA.

hey mo i took your advice and put a larger main jet in the 200x and it seemed to help it still a little lean but its getting better. once i get that taken care of i'm up for riding just let me know!

09-02-2009, 06:04 PM
I'd be in for one. The guys that went out to Al's in the early spring with me are asking about another PA ride. Hopefully we won't run into any new "friends" this time. :ugh:

After last time I didnt think we'd have anybody back. lol!!! Al just got his quad running yesterday.. and my X should be fixed within a few short weeks. I'd love to hit up meatbox in the adoriondacks for a weekend in the fall.. but unfortunatly I'm stuck without a truck or trailer.
I'm still payin on that damn fine :D hahaha!
hey fox.. reading is only a half hour ride to hazleton!
JohnR.
09-02-2009, 06:42 PM
LOL! The guys that want to come weren't there for the fines last time, they were there on the first ride. I'd like to get some riding in before the real cold weather hits. I've been busy doing summer stuff with the family and haven't ridden since that time I went with you guys. I need to burn off some of that old gas, the only action the 4x4 has seen all summer is moving the jet ski and boat trailers around the yard. :( We just have to make sure we stay far away from that state owned land.

Im new here, and game to ride. Long as its private land as I dont have a title for any of my riders.

I heard from someone on another site that the Pagnotti coal company is selling riding permits in Freeland. Chris have you heard anything about this? How could we check into it? I was told permits were $20 for a year.
Got my bearings today for the 350x. If all goes well she will be back together tomorrow night. All tight and ready to ride.
John, you got to get down in the fall for a ride. This time a little lessw stopping and some more riding. Then a nice rest while we eat some kabobs.
JohnR.
09-02-2009, 08:53 PM
Definitely Tom. I have a couple of things going on in October, I'll know the exact dates in a day or two. We definitely need to spend more time riding and less timing BS'ing/enjoying beverages.

If we cant go from Al's we can go from Beaver Meadows. Similar riding. My buddy rides there often. He hasnt run into any problems yet. Chris and Mo know the area also. Some good riding to be done.
JohnR.

Sounds good. Mind if I bring a couple of people? Seriously, I'll limit it to just two or 3 machines besides mine if need be.

I informed al of our infestation.. :D He's up for it. ;) If Anyone has room for two quads we'd go to beaver meadows.. better choice i think..
figured we'd ride.. then cookout out the house afterwards. ;):D
JohnR.
09-03-2009, 08:37 PM
I may have room by then. I'm hoping to have the car out of my big trailer this weekend and then depending on how many people come with me I may be able to get you guys in. I'll find a way to get at least one of you in with me and someone else can maybe grab the other.

I will be out of state the weekend of sept. 26th. So hopefully this ride happens after that.
JohnR.
09-03-2009, 09:06 PM
Should we start a new thread about this or are we keeping this a "closed" ride so we don't end up with a huge gang that will attract too much attention? As far as I know my schedule is open except for 9/26-28, 10/3-4, and 10/16. I'm around on 10/17 and the weekend of the 10th.
John

I say lets shoot for Sat. Oct. 10th.. Should we limit the amount of people? Or who ever wants to go?
JohnR.
09-03-2009, 09:32 PM
If we go from Beaver Meadows is there anyplace there I can buzz around on my T3 for a little bit? I spent a few days getting it all straightened out a while back and haven't had time or a place to ride it since. How safe is it up there? If I bring the enclosed trailer I'll leave it in there while we go for the ride.
John

09-03-2009, 09:42 PM
My buddy goes up to Beaver meadows and his buddy brings all there bikes in an enclosed trailer. They have never had any problems(knock on wood). There plenty of areas to ride there near the parking lot.

JohnR.
09-04-2009, 09:32 PM
Cool. I'm sure I'll have the trailer empty by then. I'd love to put a little time on my T3 with the new shock in the back. I really need to find the time to put the CalFab arm on it too.

It will be the first ride on the Dx this yr and since I finally made my midnight DX, like I allways wanted. Finally retired the camo. Chris I got a trailer that can haul 3 trikes or 2 trikes and maybe and one of the extra wheel things. Lets do this up. As 4 the size of the group is up to you guys but if the cops come its everyman for himself and I don`t anyone.

Where in the poconos you thinking of riding John? Could probably do Beaver Meadows on a sunday.
I was thinking either the Dixon R. Miller Recreation Area (i.e. Pohopoco Tract) with 13 miles of trails or Maple Run which is west of Milford and south of I-84 with 8 miles of trails but it looks like the last weekend those were open was the end of September. The other one that isn't too far is Burnt Mills which is also west of Milford and south of 84 but the state's site says that the "winter season runs from the day following the last day of the regular or extended antlerless deer season as established by the Game Commision through the following April 1" and from what I'm guessing the earliest that will be is mid-November.
I really don't want to intrude on hunters doing their thing, just out of respect for them to have their time in the woods.
BTW, lots of good info here:
State ATV Trails (http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/atv/atvindex.aspx)
I'd really like to check out "Bloody Skillet ATV Trails", there's almost 40 miles out there but that'd have to be a two day trip and its getting a little chilly at night for camping out.

I rode Dixon R. Miller rec. area last year. It was alright. It is very rocky on the main trails heading to the access road. Once there you can go a long ways wide open. Road was pretty smooth and had some trails going off here and there.
JohnR.
10-02-2009, 11:20 PM
I'll have to hit Dixon up in the spring. I'm 99% sure that you need the machine reg'd and insured to ride the state trails.

JohnR.

Probably not the X. I haven't fixed the exhaust from last time. :(
Are we going to cover a lot of ground like that first time or are we going to be within a few miles of home/the trucks the whole time? I might bust out the Tecate if we're going to buzz around a confined area but its nice to have the piece of mind and reliability of the 4x4. If I can get a few guys to come along we can take my big enclosed trailer and I'll take them both. :D

I'm in, as long as our ranger pal who rides the red Polackis won't show up.

I`m in if we get a definate meeting and time set. So it was a ranger on a polaris. This is why I never stop for anyone on the trail that I don`t know and if the ranger comes I don`t know anybody and I`M out of there. I can ride better scared then they can mad and I know them trails very well.

The ranger was on his own quad. Apparently he lives within a 1/4 mile of the power lines we were riding that day. I doubt that just because there's no hunting on Sunday they won't be out. They might be looking for people hunting illegally.

Awesome day of riding today. Weather was great. Sorry 99gsxr750 and his buddy could'nt make it. JohnR, my buddy and me put some good miles on the bikes today. No break downs or damage to the rides. Heres the few pics I took. Rode in some new areas and made our own trails to get to some new trails.

Thanks for putting this together Tom. I had a great time riding with you two guys, we all seemed to ride at a similar pace so no one was getting left behind or having to ride beyond their comfort level. We definitely have to do it again but you need to keep the dirty side down next time. I enjoyed forging that "new" trail up to the power lines but I think my favorite part was riding that nearly dried up river bed. Next time we go I want to rock crawl it even though I may be on my own when I do. I was looking at that area on MSN maps and there's a lot of ground to cover on the other side of that big power line.
Thanks Again!

John, maybe we could get a ride going in the beginning of December. We could do some more exploring. Maybe I wil bring my Big Red up instead of the x. It would probably handle the rock crawling, and mountain runoff trails better lol.

That sounds do-able. I'm picking up a boat trailer tomorrow and I'm gonna turn it into a nice little flat bed so maybe I can bring the wife and kids. I'm definitely interested though. I'd love to go back there somewhere in the warmer weather and camp out overnight. It'd have to be a place where we can get back to with the trucks though, I wouldn't want to leave my truck in the lot overnight.
