I bought a 1982 kawasaki 250 2 stroke and the wiring has been hill billy rigged. Just looking for the right wiring. It is suppose to have electric start. I will post pictures asap!

The 250(Tecate) 2 stroke never had an electric starter, good luck w/ your wiring. Do a search on this site for wiring & see what you come up w/

Are you sure it is a Tecate and/or 2 stroke??

If thats the starter the prong on it does that need to be grounded or does it need power?

its a 4 stroke. and that looks to be the CDI unit.

The lug on the starter would have a positive cable, coming from the starter solenoid...

Im going to Rig up my own harness. But im trying to find a wiring diagram. How is the CDI unit wired? What can i use to replace the start button now that it doesnt have one. i need to know how to wire from the kill switch right to the battery, etc....

You better buckle down, read allot and be very careful with this problem or you'll blow stuff up. Hopefully someone can get you a wiring diagram and you can get a basic ignition circuit up and running. Rigging things up mechanically rarely turns out good and electrically it normally ends up smoking various components.

Well after a long day of working on the trike and several beers and smokes i got it running. It was a big wiring problem, total hack job. I just need to get a new plug wire resistor and a new battery. Its runs very nice for it being a blind mans bike. didn't think it was going to turn out this good. Just a few more things to tinker around with and its gonna be a blast!. Will have some pictures of it all cleaned up and painted later.

What would a knocking noise be? it sounds like its coming from my back axle when i go to accelerate from 1st gear?

Check the splines on the rear hubs.
