Well for some reason I am gluttin for punishment! I got some 85 tecate parts and decided to build me an 85 to match my 86/87 tecate. Its almost in the same bad shape I got the other tecate in, so I will have my work cut out. Here are a few pics....

Looks like a good start to a nice machine. At least parts are cheaper for the 84-85 when compared to the 86-87, for the most part at least. Will the motor run? Good luck!

man that's a wicked start, at the rate your going; and if you don't need too many bigger parts, you'll have it done in no time!

Did you paint the tank? It looks better in the last few pics.

You got me man...it came off the 86 tecate frame with an 85 front end with some really rare flat track 86 tecate fenders I sold to a board member. If you want it, I can send it to ya, hehe as its not doing me any good.

Correct its as DC plastic tank cover, best thing since sliced bread. In fact this one was a blem and much cheaper than the original price.

Well the headlight guard mounts on the triples and bolts on the center bracket/rad guard. The headlight mounts in the center of the guard, although I dont have a headlight just yet. I can get a closer pics if you need them.

Looking good. I need that rear adjustable linkage on that 86 frame :D. Also how are you liking the tank cover? I hate mine. I dont like the fact it doesnt cover the entire tank, and the fact they slice about a 4 inch cut in the front of it and predrill holes for zip ties or whatever...

Well I am not sure about the tank cover either, but I didnt pay "Blem" so I got a stupid deal on it. I was wondering about the holes on the cover and what they were for haha. I didnt understand why they would cut it short on the front and back...but it does look better than the faded nasty tank I had.

As far as the silencer, yes I believe It's a richter privateer and I plan on cleaning it up nicely and giving it some polish. I just need to get an aftermarket head pipe to give it good power it needs hehe.

Do you have any better pics of the tank cover?

I've been thinking about getting one because my tank went from lime green to mint green after sanding and polishing.

There was one recently on ebay for $30 but I forgot about it and missed the auction.
