i just bought an 84 honda 250r with the 300 top end on it. i was told it has a fresh rebuild so for now it should be ok but i was wondering if its better to stay away from that top end because it seem like parts are non existent. also i'm having an issue with it breaking stock rear hubs when i get on the throttle hard an suggestions. its sitting right now because i need a hub for it, i have an 84 honda 200x thats a parts bike anyone know if those hubs might be interchangeable?

those are nearly the same hubs, if not the same. How do you break rear hubs? I've never seen or heard that. I have a 50 hp atc250r, it ran on stock hubs, 50 hp trx250r, stock hubs and I had my hybrid crf450r ~60hp on stock hubs. These are 250r hubs, but same difference. I also have 2 sets of hyper integrated hub wheels that strip out, 5 years going and no damage.

i was at a dead stop and i cracked the throttle wide open and it went up in a vertical wheelie and bam the right rear hub blew apart. it crack in 2 places and just fell apart. don't get me wrong it has a ton of power. not 50hp worthy but still good grunt. but ya i'm not all sure if it wasn't a bad hub to begin with or not. it sure seems like the person that had it before me like to ride it hard and it saw a lot of air time so who knows maybe it was just stress from hard riding but like said i've never seen won fall apart either so i was like wow something is wrong here.

Yeah I would have to agree with deathman53, I've never heard of anyone breaking one! most likely senerio would be that the hub was dropped on concrete and was cracked and no one noticed it, or could have been jumped alot with hard landing...... Also just got my 84' 300R running after pushing it in and out of the garage for 4 years........it's my favorite! even over my mint 86' 250R and mint 89' TRX 250R. Google (Racers Toy Store) in MN for rebuilds on the 300R, ask for Larry, I even had to have it resleeved, perfect job! they have everything you would need if it dies on you.
