That doesn't narrow it down at all really, what "shape" is the swing arm, tubular or square?

Put the VIN in here, if you can get it from the person.

not a steal but a decent price...i would go for it. i prefer the auto as long as it dosent slip. youll have way more more fun on that thing than a psp!

Whats up with the brake and the motor? I'm really worried now that you mentioned it. When I go look at it should there be anything to watch out for...

inv3ctiv3
09-24-2009, 12:57 PM
No it's just not the stock 200x motor, normally a 200x would have a kick start on the left side but this one will have a recoil starter on the right side. You basically have to make your own brake pedal to make it work with that motor.

btw, I already have 2 dirtbikes. Yz85 and Yz 125 (2003 and 2000)... this thing is to have some fun in the winter and for my dad to come ride with us sometimes and sometime next year we plan on selling it possibly.

inactive what do you think I should do? Buy it or find another atc? (the deal is a few posts up)

looks like an 84 200x. black seat and black fork boots were 84 year.

09-24-2009, 01:27 PM
That is an 83 chassis and but is an auto-X for sure

Dirtcrasher

I see a tubular swinger and an auto X motor. 83 arse end I'd say......

Basically the same all 3 years aside from that swinger and some kicker gear changes.

lndy650
09-24-2009, 02:18 PM
it could be an 84 with an 83 swinger... i thought the 83's had a black seat/fork boots too though?

He said he may have screwd up and it can be an E insted of an X. However he's raced these all through the 80's and he's a first owner. So could this be a 200e? Would it make more sense now on why the motor is diffrent and such, the numbers are being ran now and I'll get more info soon.

inv3ctiv3
09-24-2009, 04:13 PM
No it is a 200x with a 200e motor

3wheelinatc110
09-24-2009, 06:14 PM
Well now I dont know what I should do.. how much diffrent will it be then a regular 200x? Shouldn't it be fine for winter riding and hunting?
Edit: Would you say this is a disadvantage or an advantage?

i dont know i paid 200.00 for this

seriously how many times are you going to say that and post those 2 pics. how many? just curious?

Its not a disadvantage at all, if it was done right. The auto engine will be better for hunting and stuff like that for sure. I ride my auto x everywhere on any given day, and in the snow, it does great! Its a big advantage to have that motor in a 200x chassis with full suspension then it to be in the original 3 wheeler with no suspension at all, or an inch or two of travel on the forks. It makes for a much smoother, sportier ride that way. Good luck, and let us know what you decide to do.

Well now I'm just wondering if I should keep the E motor in or sell it and buy an X when it starts snowing harsh.

auto x's rock you still have gears so you still shift the bike just no clutch to worry about Great for a loaner bike I have 2 of them 1 for me and 1 for the wife

3wheelinatc110

I'm prob going to sell the E and get an X engine cause I love clutches,
I want to be the one controlling the power lol! but that's future plans.
I'll post some more pics when I pick it up Sunday.

defenitly not a 200e engine unless it has high/low and electric start... must be a 200/200s/185/185s

3wheelinatc110
09-25-2009, 01:43 AM
Okay, I'm really confused lol. The guy said he ran numbers and it came out 200e, also told me it was a 1982. But the 200 Big Red was an 82 while the earliest 200x is the 83... and the plastics and everything say 200x. So I'm guessing 1983 ATC 200x chassis, with a 200e Engine. Also got more pics.
Edit: pics on are the FIRST POST!

also whats up with the top of the seat on the gas tank?

looks decent for 6 bills, but ya never no knowing its been all molested. I would imagine the stock 200x motor is a little more powerful, and a clutch is always funner if you know what you are doing, but ive honestly never ridden a 200s which is where the motor is from i believe. For 600 if your patient you can probably find a nice all original one, or close to it. I doubt youll find a rediculous deal like harry there, but youd be surprised.

deffinately not an E it is a 200s motor, a 200E motor is electric start with a high low sub transmission. Those are not original honda decals, someone must have had them made at some time. If this dude is telling you he is the original owner, and thats how it came, then back away now!!

3wheelinatc110
09-25-2009, 02:04 PM
Okay, its finally confirmed. He took it to a Honda dealer which came up with 1983 ATC 200x Chassis with 1984 200s motor. The decel's he recently made I don't really mind the gas tank as my dad can paint it at this shop. No, he didn't say this is how it came. Are these auto-x swaps more common with E or S engine swaps?

People could care less. When your 200X motor is cooked, they grab any 185/200 that can get them running again :D

I imagine that because the 200X is more race bred, people beat on them, neglect maintenance and blow them up. Then they find a 200S that was used on a farm and there back in buisness again :w00t:

An auto X can be fun, but a little less power. The worst part with them is the opposite shift pattern. $600 is top dollar for one in that cond., in my opinion. if you want a 3 wheeler for hunting and such get a utility style, if you want one for play riding get a sport style. If you try to use one for something it is not designed for you will be disapointed.

Deff. not top dollar, I'm Canadian. 200 in good condition = $1200 about. You Americans have ATC's around every corner I swear! I searched up and there isn't much. Maybe like 15 in all of Canada's craigslist. Heading up to take a look tomorrow anyways, will update you later if interested.

200m or 200s motor is my guess?? Looks to be quite a few parts put together from a couple trike. That is not a 200x grab bar or headlight assembly, and tail light is also heinz #57. Looks pretty good though, those parts swap's would not keep me from ownin' it! Go for it, 600.00 ain't much when you are walking to your deerstand in 8" of snow!!  It's got character.. oh ya 83 200x swinger arm,

Meh, The bar doesn't really matter... I prob wont even use the lights. Good if they are just there though just in case.
