I finally got to ride my xr200x on a pretty solid test ride today. I used a 6 speed transmission out of an 82 xr200r. I highly recommend this mod.. I put it in my 84 200x cases. I am using a 10:1 piston, Intake and 26mm carb from an 83 xr200x. I have choosen to run the 200x cam. The 6 speed gear box is awsome. It feels like 1st gear is about 1/2 gear lower than a stock 5 speed and 6th is about 3/4 gear higher than the stock box in 5th. I decided to run an 11 tooth sprocket on my set up. I have some very steep technical riding. The lower gearing of the xr 1st gear and the 11 tooth works awsome in the tight woods. My second gear is just a touch higher than a five speed box with 12 tooth in first. My 6th now feels real close to a 5 speed with 12 tooth on top end. The set up I am using makes a stock 200x feel pretty slow. I will have to get some pictures for you in a couple of days. This thing runs great but might win a couple of ugly trike contest.[/b]

All you need is either an xr bottom end or transmisson gear set + kick starter gears and you must have the xr shifter shaft. You need the 200x clutch cover and kick start. The complete 6 speed transmisson set will fit directly into you 200x cases. You need to use the primary kickstart gear from the xr200. The gear has more teeth than the 200x gear. Put it on the main kickstart shaft that fits the 200x before you put the case halves together. Now you can use the foward kick 200x clutch cover. Thats all there is to it. Just make sure you get all of the xr200 transmisson parts IE.. shifter shaft, shift drum etc. at once. There are much harder to find pits and peices than 200x stuff. It took me 3 month to find a shifter shaft. I should have bought it at the same time that I got my transmission.
