View Full Version : YTM 225 axle shaft removal
Anyone have tips on how to remove this thing? I have the clymer manual, gone step by step and still cant get the thing out. I dont care too much if the axle shaft gets damaged, Im replacing it cause its got a pretty bad bend in it. I want to avoid any damage to the diff.
Im out of ideas right now, I just tilted it on the side and put some more PB blaster in there in hopes it will make some difference.

I had the same problem. I used every solvent I had on mine.
I tipped it on either side, every other day, so the stuff got in there good.
Patience is the key, along with a big hammer.
You are trying to remove it from the left to right side, I hope.

There is nothing special about removing it. It don't slid out because it is bend. Maybe you'll need to remove the fork from the triple tree to help get better leverage to hammer it out. Also I suggest you change the bearing. Also coat the new axle with anti-seize grease before reassembly.

He's doing the rear axle.
I read to quick and I thought he was talking about the front axle.
Use a bigger hammer.
Yep going left to right, I guess I'll keep soaking it. Gonna buy a big tub of antiseize for this thing.
Thanks
