I went to Princess auto yesterday and bought a tire for my 250sx it was a
22 x 11.00 -8 i took it home and it was substantially larger than the space between the forks. Am I missing something for buying a front tire ? some other number I need to look at ?

I went to princess Auto to get the tire, should I get going somewhere else ?

this is the tire I got...just to fat and I don't understand what I need to do to get the right tire size.

"11" is the width of the tire. Try finding a "9" Some tires are wider then others even though the numbers are the same. With that brand of tire, just get a skinnier tire. Or find a different brand.

22 = Height
11 = Width
8 = Rim size

wow those tire prices are ridiculous, that place is a rip-off...
ive never had a problem with a tire being that much wider then normal...the sx did come with 22-11-8 so i would think that should have fit, maybe the forks were changed on your sx, or perhaps some are wider and u and i both just learned something new...was the old tire 11 wide?
either way, if possible take that tire back and get your money back! thats way to much for tires...
check out www.denniskirk.com and www.rockymountainatv.com for tires, it will be alot cheaper even with shipping..(free if over $100 purchase) ..i always recommend the itp mud lites..

I'm with stoney----ouch on the price. I had those years ago on my SX on the rear, and I can bet for sure that they are wider than 11". Here is the carlisle link to the mounted width. Like I said they're wider than 11" mounted. See if you can return it, I doubt it now that it's mounted. Only way out is to buy another for the rear and have the first tire flopped to the rear, and buy a new meat for the front. Looks like you may have brand new skins all the way around!

Here's a quick google link for that tire cheaper--not where I'd buy it but way cheaper. Look into finding tires online that include free shipping. Lots-o places give free shipping. Dennis Kirk will even price match, but they charge for shipping, but can still work out cheaper than most.

I recently bought tires from this place http://www.pureoffroad.com/ and the guy there is stand up, free shipping, and had them in about 3 days.
