I'm wondering how to determine if the rear suspension on my '87 200X is functioning properly. How should it react? Right now it seems like when you go over a bump and the suspension compresses it doesn't rebound that much. And it seems kind of a harsh ride. But I don't know maybe this is just how they were made. Looking for some info. And if they can be adjusted how do you do it?

If you push it down with all your weight, it should return but not like a "pogo stick", you should feel some resistance.

If it's OEM, just like mine - we know they need rebuilding (as much as we don't like it!)

We can't get new shocks for these, it's better to spend about 200$ and have it rebuilt. Call any of the suspension guys, a shock is a shock. They didn't ban shocks :D

So it sounds like it may needto be rebuilt. Can you give me any leads on who to call to do it?

you can get a new shock for them. Works will make and sell you one, for ~$600.
