Ok...So i'm going to start a new thread that is more specific in the title than my intro thread since I think it get's looked over. Old thread- http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/showthread.php?t=102540
Parts list-
1) head stay mounts
2) front brake master cylinder
3) grab bar- ordered PRM from E-bay
4) one pipe spring
5) Rear brake reservoir
6) Head light and taillight
7) Case saver
8) Air Filter
I've found a couple head stays on E-bay so I can probably get that covered. Front brake master I am gonna try to pull from something else this weekend, maybe the rear res too... I've got an idea for headlights in the future...Is this a 12V system? I am assuming it is. I need one pipe spring- It has 3 but one is just a weak automotive type. Does anyone make a case saver for these? I also want to dump the stock airbox for a slip on K&N type. It looks like I have to pull the rear shock to get the box out? Does anyone have a link or part # for a slip on filter they've used?
Thanks in advance
Mitch

yes, the shock will need unbolted to slip the air box out.
Now, if you are going to run with out a air box I recommend to support + secure the carb in some fashion so the intake boot that is NO longer available from Kawi don't crack or if already showing cracks don't just rip open
(you will toast your motor in a heart beat if happens at higher rpms)
The voltage is unregulated on the tecates, 7.? volts at idle and about 17+ volts at 10K rpm (just so you know).
From personal experience on 2 other recommendations
1- loctite anything you take apart (other then engine bolts), these trikes vibrate with the best of any machine out there.
2- get a chain guard on it, that sprocket + chain will wad you up quicker then all get out.
Never heard of a case saver made for a Tecate, not a bad idea for some fella with time + talent to make up such a critter :) (but never have heard much about Tecates throwing chains either)
If you put your "want" list up in classiefieds I know of 2 fellas selling off extra parts you are wanting and a fella or 2 making some "no" longer made parts.
Nice score by the way ! Oven cleaner will take that paint off quicker then anything else with out screwing up the plastics (just where plastic gloves)

Measure the od of your carb inlet and go to knfilters.com and go to universal filters. The one I have is for a large carb and has I think a 20 degree angle in it to clear the shock.
In the 20 + years I have owned my Tecates I have never had a thrown chain. The chain adjuster is really a good design and stays tight. Just keep an eye on the slack in it.
Pipe springs can be bought at bikebandit.com and are I think 3$ each if I remember correctly.
As for the headlight and tailight, keep an eye on Ebay for those items.
I'm glad you got the Tecate and can't wait to hear your riding stories.

hmmm...I forgot about the intake boot...Thanks for the reminder.... Yes this one has seen better days. It's got a bit of dry rot.... Nobody makes them?? Ugh... My carb is 2- 1/4 on the filter side and 1 3/4 on the intake side. I'll look at K&N's site but maybe with my intake in the shape it's in I'll see about leaving the box for now...
I'm hoping to have it run-able by our dune trip next weekend....I'd love to rip it up in the Oregon dunes for the first time....She won't be pretty her 1st trip out but with any luck she'll be fast!
Thanks for the help guys!

yeah, one fella dose but he's quite cantankerous, charges more then what they was new when available and gots more time on his hands then normal folk.
I pretty much know he would respond to a ad in classified if you find the need for a new intake boot.

Is that the ATV classifieds section? I looked and there didn't seem to be anything there... Does it get cleaned out of old ads? I'll take a closer look at it tomorrow after work and see what kinda shape it's really in... I want to check the reed anyway.. Hopefully I'll get a chance to work on it some this weekend...

Mitch, that Saki drinking parts guy (think he makes his own ) don't advertise there. You would need to put up WTB (wanted to buy) (what ever part).
he reads there.

LOL, John you're not very nice.
Mitch, i've got a machine that i'm parting out, let me know what you need and i'll look and see if i got it.
If you need tecate intake boots, you need to PM a member named JESwinehart
He makes reproduction boots, and they are probably more durable than OEM ones.
Good luck.

The guy who does make those repro intake boots is quite the stand-up guy and the boot he makes is phenomenal.

If your intake boot is cracking get some Plasti Dip that they use on tool handles for the rubber finish. It can be found at just about any automotive/tool/garden store and is a great way to bring life back to cracked/worn intake boots. This is the stuff im talking about
http://www.plastidip.com/home_solutions/Plasti_Dip
Just dip your intake boot in it and let it dry. Trim excess off and your good to go for another 15+ yrs :)

lol... I had a hunch John was F'ing with me but I wasn't absolutely positive so I didn't throw it out there... I pondered ending my last post speaking to John with- "I'm gonna guess that you're the one that reproduces intake boots?" Cause nobody says those things out in public unless they're talking about themselves or a close friend in jest....
Thanks for all the advice guys- John... I'll PM you.....

So..Here's what I accomplished this weekend and found needing fixed... First off- the radiator has a leak when it gets warmed up...One of the lower mounts is starting to crack the bottom of the tank.. I'm going to drop it at a radiator shop in the morning to be fixed. It runs pretty good so far although I think the fuel is old and the oil heavy mixed... I did get the front brake working finally. Just needed a good bleed and rest..lol. The chainguard is on but in two pieces... I deleted the bailing wired pipe hanger by using an extra banshee hanger and drilling a hole in the old one minus the rubber...Looks like it'll work fine. Removed the stock airbox (what a pain in the arse!) and found alot of old nuts stored in it and one ugly air filter. I think I'm gonna wait to buy paddles till we go to Oregon next week... Replace the Sand stars on my Banshee with some Haulers and put the stars on the trike... i think... Off to order an airfilter!...
RU-1720? http://www.knfilters.com/search/univround.aspx
For some reason this computer doesn't like me tonight..I'll order from work tomorrow

Ok...Ordered up the filter and also a precharger outerwrap... Jeswinehart is sending me a new intake boot... Gonna try my hand at soldering the radiator cracks hopefully tonight...Found out this morning that the radiator repair shop went out of business 8 or so years ago!
Also robbed a rear brake reservoir from a non running honda motorcycle at my Cousin's place...

Right on...Let me know what shipping was.
I dropped off the radiator this morning at the welding shop in town... I've known them for a long time and they do good work...Crossing my fingers they are able to get the crack fixed... I had no luck with it myself and don't really like jb weld if I don't have to.

Picked up the radiator this morning from the welding shop...Looks like she'll hold now...I'll bring it back to em if I have problems. Air Filter tracking looks like tomorrow....
Gonna install the rad tonight and put bulbs in the 90's.

Got her back together and fired her up again last night.... All the lights on the 90's are working again. Filter & precharger came this morning. Intake boot should be in no later than tomorrow if not today judging by the tracking. Thanks John!

The Tecate first..Which I expected...Mainly carb issues... Someone before me used silicone on the shut off valve and I think it spooged into the tank.... Clogs up the carb every now and again. Head gasket has a tiny leak too... Needle is absolutely trashed...
Then the Banshee...Carbs were way outta sync... Cable issues.. Once I found it, it was a fairly easy fix. It works but it's not perfect. one is adjusted all the way in and the other is all the way out.
Fought the 90's a few times but all in all....Good trip. The locked up 90 i'll dig into when I can..
Only bike I didn't have to mess with was my 300EX.. old reliable.
Thanks for the compliments on the rigs! Mine's the blue Ford with the camper...The trailer belongs to friend of mine and my cousin was in the blue dodge.
