well i got a z from a buddy that ive wanted for a long time, picked it up for $400 i want his tecate but...the z been sitting for ever after it was blowin up its really dirty but im sure it should clean up nice. has some aftermarket parts, new front tire & paddles. havent really gone over the bike to much yet.

i got it pulled out, didnt have time to take a pic but i well when i get back, looks like the exhaust melted it a little bit, & it was paited black..

Nice project for sure! Once you get one of somthing, another is easy to find. I like the 85.5 color schemes like that, with the black and red. The airbox almost looks like a tri moto 125/175, but it is a little different shape on the top, and the bottom dosnt have the drain plug to let the water out. I would say that pipe looks like a DG to me, but I may be wrong. My next thought would be that it is an answer pipe, they were similar welded like that of a DG so its likely one of the two. There are no markings on the pipe? Good luck, and hope to see some updated pics when she is all cleaned up! I would like to hear some more info or see an old magazine article scanned about that UFO airbox if it is one. Someone speak up if you have answers. Thanks, ----- Jon.

So was it like a power lid filter? Freakin sweet! looks like a early DG pipe with the hooks .

it looks like the oem boot with a alum, ring rivited to the box..

i got the cylinder, it has a crack on the bottom, so could i just cut that pice off or cut them both off & run the cylinder like that? also got a new piston with it..

so did this thing actually have air filter?... looks like it was lean a HELL! and someone wanted to ride! detonation hot spot..ouch. theres places that can fix that skirt...might wanna JB weld that hole tho ha...:lol:

yea but its not in the best shape, ill get those pics uploaded. he ran it at 20:1 lol would it hurt if i just cut the skirt off?...haha not it has a new wiseco 51mm

I run mine ,, but I will warn you.. they WILL brake around the mount holes!
