I got my tri-moto running and I took it for it's first test drive last night. The carb is running rich. It has a 270 main jet.
1. It really has no low end.
2. At half throttle it doesn't run good until the engine starts to rev up.
3. The top end it runs fine.
4. The plug is wet.
5. I got the needle all away down.
It has a 270 main jet, i'm thinking about trying a 265 jet. Well the 265 be still to big or not? The carb is a VM26.

First of all, do you mean you have the needle all the way down or the clip all the way down? If you have the needle down, you're at the leanest setting, if you have the clip down, you're at the richest setting. Second, the main jet controls 3/4 to full throttle and you said it ran great at the top end, so I think you might be ok on the main. The pilot jet controls closed to 1/4 throttle. You said it had no low end so that may be you're problem. I would try dropping it and see if that fixes it. You'll have to play with the needle once you get the other jets right. Do you have the carb set to factory specs? If you have a manual, it will tell you the stock jet sizes, needle position, and the idle and air screw settings. Hope this helps,

it could also be spark or timing related. it could even be compression related. i would do a compression test before i started to tune the carb. as mentioned try to get the stock carb settings.
