Well, ive ordered 2 different motion pro clutch cables from ebay. They are supposed to fit the 84-85 T3. Both of them are TOO long. By about 2inches. I can adjust both adjustments all the way out to where they almost come out of the threads and it barely takes the slack out of it just enough to work. Is this a problem with motion pro cables or a problem on my end? As of now ive got a used (low hour cable) and a brand new one i dont know what to do with! My old cable worked just fine, i think it was OEM but it was getting stiff and ended up breaking on me.

take up the extra slack with a spacer of some sort on the motor mount area, although 2 in. is alot to take out.

Kinda what i was thining, but then again i want it done right. If it says it'll fit ill be damned if im gonna accept something that doesnt fit. Thats 2 in a row thats why i think theres something wrong. Although i can easily take up the adjustment, i just dont want to have to!

Have you checked the part number against Motion Pro's, on their website?

It sounds like you mean that the "inner" cable is too long. If the whole thing was too long it would just be too much of an arch or interefering with other crap......
Unfortunately, you'd have to get creative and change something.
Hopefully the other Kawi guys will share there experiences with cables.............
Is Motion Pro the only AM you can find??

yup, i love motion pro cables because they are longer.
when i modify a 350x clutch arm or convert an 85 style to 86 they work the best.

A shop here by me can put new ends on any cable. I had him cut the extra off of my Tecate cable and then put a new end on it. So apparently this is common with all of the Tecate clutch cables.

Hmm I just recently bought a motion pro for my '84 tecate, and it fit just fine, I have lots of adjustment room, no problems here.

Looks like there is mixed feelings with this. After a thorough checking i noticed my clutch perch doesnt match the mount for the clutch perch, its alot narrower. Im thinking maybe somebody has changed the perch on this machine before or something to a unknown kind. I ended up making it work by taking a bicycle adjustment screw and threading it into the engine mount for the cable. I then drilled the end of the adjustment screw out so my cable sits into it. That gives me 1 1/2 inches more of material to take the slack up in the cable. It works very well. I was going to go the route of shorterning the cable, but i decided this would be a much better and reliable fix than soldering a new end on the cable.
