I just learned the horrible fate that befell my former MX quad. I had a 2003 KFX 400 with a fair amount of motor work, well I traded it for a DRZ400E (same engine as the quad). Turns out that the guys' son (who weighs well over three bills) destroyed the frame trying to get agro on the tired MX ride. Now the machine sits in several piles.

I was wondering if anyone had played with these engines in trike form? Seems ideal for the application.:TrikesOwn I think it would look great done up like a modern tecate a la 2003.

Any thoughts, if it seems worth wile I'll try and weasel the motor out of him.:naughty:

I have thought of this too but don't have the means or tools to do it. I have an '03 KFX 400 as well, and love the response and smooth power of the engine. It would be sweet in a trike. Have you seen the ATC 450R's members on here are making by chopping off the front end of the TRX? I would think it would be a similiar deal.

I thought it would look great using mostly OEM stuff(green suzuki). Like KFX rear fenders, KLX400 tank& radiator shrouds and perhaps the headlight off the dualsport bike or a shaved KLR headlight. Does anyone know where one could get a green front fender?

You could probably get a Maier green front fender depending on what front end you would use. It might not match the Kawi green though.

Or.. maybe not. I just checked out their site. I didn't realize they specify which colors you can get for each model. I thought you could get any of their plastic in any of the colors they offer.

I've gone trough this before. I wanted blue plastics for my 200x (I've got access to an IT490 engine) and wanted it to look OEM Yamaha. You have top buy 10 green front fenders may be worth it.

you can get maier to run 10 sets of kawi green front fenders for a 85-86 250r and they look sweet sell the rest on ebay they will go fast
