I read about people putting on the universal module eliminating the points and condensor. Some of the threads say they fired right up but I didn't see anything about how the performed overall. Do they keep up when revving out? Just want to know if they are worth it. Better performance? Also I've seen them range from 45 dollars to 15. Anyone if one works better or lasts longer than another? Thanks.

Well I put the 15.00 one in and it fired right up. I ran about a half a block down the road and now i have no spark. I checked the ohms across the two terminals when I started and it was 5.57 K ohms now it .487 k ohms. Oh well, you get what you pay for. I'll put the points and condensor back in tomorrow.

I tried the $15 ignition module. Bike fired right up but would not run more than about 45 seconds. Maybe a bad module, but I put the points back in and it runs great again.

Why don't they stand behind there product?
Deepah and I paid about 50$ a pop from the DR, I believe.
Anyhow, that seller ad on Ebay says "This module is not recommended for use on engines equipped with battery ignition or flywheels with multiple magnets" Maybe thats the issue??" the 70 flywheel has a few magnets......

I bought one for a pit bike that I use on my 85 70. It came from www.re-mx.com. It was like $40 but it works and has been working for over a year now. That 70 runs great and tops out at about 40mph. It works from idle to WOT.
Or if you want a really nice one, send a PM to THE GOAT. he mentioned it in this post. he has one that has the cdi built onto the stator plate. You simply replace your stator plate that has the points and condenser with this one that has the cdi and all of the wires that just plug right in.
It is a really good deal considering he used it for about 30 minutes and then it was garaged and never started again.

What sucks is that in spring you could have gotten this exact one for $4.95 now the price went up 400% or more.
