my 86200x had a top end job done.... .020 over (.5mm) 10.25:1 compression Wiseco racing piston installed and head redone... it WAS perfect before.... but when I start it up and hammer on the throttle it boggs down and stalls... why? Im thinking carb?? my sparkplug has a reddish tint to it too, dunno why!? also a bigger exhaust (cobra)

thanx

My SX was doing that also, come to find out it was choke problems. It would idle fine cold but when you hit the throttle it will just stall. So check your choke.

Have you Rejetted since you did the rebuild and pipe???

I don't think it's the timing because it would be the exact oppopsite of the symtoms he explained. If the timing was a little off it should run ok when reved up but it wouldn't idle. In this case it bogs down and quits when reved up. Speed20 has the right idea with rejetting. Having all that top end work and a new exhaust the carb settings will have to be changed. I would play around with the air screw and the needle settings. If that doesn't work, I would rejet.

cool, except that it was fine when I first put it back together! now its gettin a little worse about it.... the timing is right on! ( i set it, lol, but it is right!), and I didnt rejet or anything after I put the pipe on or top end job, and it WAS fine, but I think that is what it probably is.... could there be some crap in the carb? the choke is off!

Its most likely your carb you need to get a carb rebuilt kit. There very cheap. It could be your air filter needs to be clean to.

i had the same problem with my 200s. it kept getting worse and worse and then when i was playing with the carb i found out that one of the metal ends on the carb boot (carb to engine boot) was tearing from the ruber part leaveing a big hole but it wasn;t very noticable. well a new 10$ boot got that fixed and now i runs perfect.
