1979 atc110 question

Hey guys, first post!
the good-I bought a 79' 110 for 65$. It runs pretty well, considering its age and how much i got it for. It was pretty ugly, so i painted it with a couple cans of rustoleum metal. Fixed the head light, works great.
ok now for the bad
It only runs full choke. i have to always feather the thottle to keep her running. Im thinking about buying a new carb for it, but it would be nice it there was a simple soulution.
What is the vacuum like line out of the carb? Mine doesnt go anywhere.
And if i do need a new carb, where should i look? the local powersport store has them for about 160:eek: . Ebay has some for 30-50. Are those any good?

You need a carb rebuild kit and the big 1 gallon can of "gunk" carb dip. Also you need to download a copy of the atc110 service manual that you can find on here and some metric tools and you should be on your way. Welcome to the site. I don't think more than $25 for a carb rebuild kit. Have fun and get busy. Be careful on your carb, the metal is kind of soft and your hi and lo speed jets are made of brass and you can mess them up fairly easy if you're not careful and take your time.

I was thinking about that, but for an extra 20 or so i could have one brand new. How tough is it to rebuild? Im more afraid ill screw something up. Ill check out that manual though. thanks!

Pretty easy to rebuild a carb, especially with the manual:beer monroe. you can probably get a rebuild kit for under 20 on ebay. 9 times out of 10 if you clean all the existing parts it will probably be fine but its always a good idea to get a rebuild kit especially for something that old.

I tried to clean the carb, it was pretty bad. Remember this carb is the original from 1979. I put it back on, then nothing. I ended up buying a new carb off of ebay. I just put it on, and WHAM! Started up sencond pull. The funny thing is that the engine is running so good now it sounds completely different!
Anyways, thanks for the help. If i new more about these carbs im sure i could have got the job done with all the stuff you guys provided. Time to go ride!

the carbs are pretty easy to rebuild. I have done it once on my ATC 110 just before it quit running Jan of 08. I got it running again in June of this year. I bought a rebuild kit again for it. I still have the kit minus the 'E' clip for the throttle slide.

I've had pretty good luck buying the replacement carbs too. The only one I've had trouble with is the one on my 90, which has a very small bowl and I've had a b*tch of a time getting the float adjusted so that it wasn't overflowing or starving for gas.

I'm glad you got it going though. That's awesome!

The problem here sounded like the air cleaner was missing or had a big hole in it. Make sure you have a good genuine filter foam or it will only run with the choke on.

ttypemike, where did you get your carb? I need to get a carb for my 90, and I believe a 110 carb will work.

I bought the carb from ebay, member named carbsales. i paid around 40 with shipping give or take. im pretty sure that it is made in china, but it works great. Ive been riding the trike for a few days pretty hard, and ajusting when needs be.

And to the air filter guy, haha its funny you said this. i took apart the air cleaner before i bought the carb, and it was a piece of blanket zip tied. Needless to say i bought the foam filter (for $5.50 total), sprayed it down with some K&N air filter oil, and it seems to do the job.

I would suggest the guy whom i bought the carb from. 2 days after i paid for it, it was in my mailbox. Same with the air filter.

p.s. im getting pretty damn good with the thing and have only flipped it once!
