I am assembling my basket case 86 350x and have run into a problem. What holds the rear brake stay (what the caliper bolts on to) on the swing arm. Its not a bolt, looks to be maybe a c-clip?

Hi! I'm not sure if these pics will help. (this is an 85) but another good way to see what's what is looking at the parts fishce on bikebandit.com. http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/1986-honda-motorcycle-atc350x/o/m1917

Good pics but my stay has 3 male ends, 2 hold the caliper, the third slides over a male end on the swinger and I dont know how its fastened

It's fastened with nuts.....maybe a cotter pin.....after the nut.....
Go to Service Honda, look at the fiche, it will say either collar, clip, nut or washer. There basically just braces, very simple to figure out if you try it a few ways.....

Well mine is an 85 the the caliper mount slides over the carrier and the large c-clip hols it on. It is not a tight fit and will move until you get the caliper mounted.
