would this be a good deal, How much of a job would it be to re-thread the cam chain tensioner? the bearings and sprocket are a easy fix. Im looking for a nice sport quad and this has lots of aftermarket stuff on it. Offer him $1000?

I sold my 2000 400ex w/title last year for 1400 bucks. All it needed was new brake pads. had its share of extras on it too. If you dont mind doing work to the bike lowball him.

Around here you can get 400ex's all day for 1500 or less. Everone now want's the 450's or quads with fuel injection.

run from this one. 400EX bikes are something i know better than most anyone. the 440 kit is a joke. i can build more power and more reliable power from a 416 kit. if you don't want to run race gas never use more than 10.5:1 piston with the 400EX. you will blow head gaskets like none other. my 400EX is only a 416 and i can smoke 450s on a hole shot in A class. this bike was built poorly in my opinion. if he striped the T chain hole what else did he do. there are a couple other holes on a 400 that will strip out easier than those two. those two are hard to strip out. i know some of you will disagree with my head gasket assessment but i know this issue very well.
