Dirtcrasher just got done replacing the 16007 bearing on my counter balancer. When the balancer holder was installed on the stator side, the bolts felt like they were twisting once they were tight. He mentioned he read somewhere on here about aftermaket bolts that were stronger. I already upgraded the holder with an ESR one.

On the balancer rebuild, i bought a 20 dollar bearing off of ebay. This made me nervous after talking to steve and jeff250r about it, so steve went and picked up a quality one made by FAG (funny isnt it?). The OEM bearing had 13 balls, POS bearing had 12, and the FAG had 14 (makes sense too). Definately worth the extra money and the money wasted on the POS bearing.

If anyone knows the post or where to get the updated/improved bolts at that would be great. If not, ill just buy 3 new OEM ones...

I was thinking about pulling a HOOSIER and selling my trike because i am too ignorant to troubleshoot a few bolts, but then I thought better.

Thanks,

Mike

there is nothing wrong with stock bolts. Get new stock bolts. As for the twisting once tight, the threads inside the cases may be worn and stirpping, thats why its twisting. Try new bolts first.

ok, thats what i had thought. The bolts were fine, just the holder was subject to break.

Thanks

The threads aren't stripping, we made sure every thread was perfect.....

Those bolts are so friggen long that the bolt itself twists (very small amount, but you can feel it bounce back), like a dam torsion bar,

Reminds me of headbolts on some machines....I hate it... I'll bet if you torque them to specs though you wont have any problems with it.
